An introduction and a question...

I was worried that I wouldn't find THE ONE - everyone talks about it but I sort of figured I was still going to look like me and therefore not be particularly happy with how I looked but was pleasantly surprised with what a well made dress can do for a figure, and trying a veil on for the first time was amazing! And I found a dress I fell in love with the first day, though it took three more trips for me to actually buy it.

I would say it's never too early to start looking, and like you say a nice way to spend a day with your mum and make her feel involved if she's helping from afar for most of the time. If it were me, I would worry about buying one too far in advance as it's a long time not to change your mind, but plenty of people buy their dresses over a year in advance so you're maybe not too far ahead! Looking forward to a flash if you do find something!

I've been engaged since 25/12/11 and planning on getting married in June 2013 and I feel a bit scared as well! I have tried 7/8 dresses on (just went for a look and ended up in the changing room!) and I didn't like any of them. I don't want to pick one then change my mind a few months down the line. I also want to lose some weight (about 1stone) so I think it might be better to do that first as i might feel better when i try dresses on. have fun with your mum x

Congrats! I have only been dress shopping once and luckily it was somewhere with nice assistants (I tried on a few and got an idea of what suits me but I am still looking for THE ONE). I've seen other Hitchers recommend wearing nice underwear which I think is a really good suggestion.

I searched on here for recommendations of bridal shops too to get an idea of what the assistants were like as that can make all the difference. Maybe try that for some in your area?
