An unexplainable urge....

kimiu, 15 October, 2014 at 12:00 Posted on Planning 0 22

.....has just come over me for RED WEDDING SHOES.

Oh dear. I have shoes. In fact I have two pairs of shoes. My dress is Oyster in colour, so to find not one but TWO pairs of shoes that match already is pretty good going. One is a "safe" pair, but comfy (am thinking of later in the evening when my feet hurt) and the other is a pair of Kurt Geigers that were an absolute bargain in the sale at £29.

But, now I want to make a statement. And have RED. My nails will be red, but that's all - the BM will be in coral, and H2B's suit is Navy.

Oh, what to do? There are some stunning red wedding shoes out there. I'm thinking along the lines of these.......HELP!

Love the idea of red shoes! I'm thinking of blue ones for my something blue! Like the idea of a cheeky glimpse of colour.

Make sure you are able to take 1/2 of the pairs back that you already have though or it seems a lot of money to spend on shoes hehe x

I do go to a lot of fairly formal functions, so to keep the other shoes wouldn't be any real hardship as I have an array of long and cocktail dresses for them to go with.

See - I can justify anything when it comes to shoes!

Red shoes like those would def be very "me" and the right shade of red would look lovely with the colour of the dress. I may have to go on a hunt.....as once I have got them, I will want to keep them on all day and night so they need to be comfy.

I live in LK Bennett high heeled babies - I have a wardrobe full of them, so I think H2B would almost expect me to be in something "statement", although I am very definately not an Irregular Choice type of person. Nothing against them, they just don't work for me.

Damn it. I want those shoes!

I kind of know the feeling - for the longest time I had a vision of wearing my vintage cowboy boots. Obviously that would actually cost me less money than buying a pair of shoes, but everyone (well, my mother) insisted I couldn't. I have been looking at shoes online, but I am still harbouring the urge to wear the boots, and I still might. We'll see.

My friend has just got married in her cowboy boots. She looked stunning, and it was very "her". Plus, she felt comfortable, so relaxed that little bit more!

I'd say go for the boots, your mother can wear what she wants to wear. You can wear what you want to wear.

My tummy is feeling all "flippy" since I saw those shoes. I will have to go and look at my dress in the shop (well, the sample) later this week and have a chat with the girl there - she's very honest, and has seen my original shoes, so I trust her judgment.

Then I'll probably buy the shoes.....?

    Maybe.

Love them! If they are very you and your feel that way about them then I think that's telling you something! I think a little flash of red is lovely and you can have some lovely pics! Do something that your other half won't expect, besides you can wear the other shoes again! Have some fun!! x

I'm very glad you don't think I am being silly!

What about the potential clash with the BM dress? flowers are going to be predominantly yellow roses (in remembrance of H2B Mum), perhaps with peachy flowers in there too, to tie in the BM dress, with a pop of blue, as H2B has a blue suit - not quite navy, but not royal blue - more a bright Navy. So my only concern would be that red is one colour too many.

I could of course tie in with the blue and have similar shoes in blue. That would work.

    But its not red.....

How much of your fabulous shoe will be seen? A flash or a full frontal?? I don't see an clash issue with a flash, but then I'm not what you would call colour co-ordinated!

You are having red nails, I think you may need more red .... I'm not helping!!

Beautiful dress and absolutely gorgeous shoes!!

If its what you want, and you can justify spending money on more shoes (I know I could!) then go for it
No-one will dare approach the bride and say you should have had oyster/coral/blue shoes Smiley smile

Gorgeous dress, I can just picture a little flash of red every so often. I also do think that whatever shoes you wear you are going to look amazing, so it comes down to what you want and can afford ..... the decision is yours! (Darn it I've gone all Blind Date!!)

I bought a nice safe ivory pair (tanya from rainbow shoes) but just couldn't get excited about them. Just had them dyed navy and now I love them. Rainbow shoes did it free as I bought from them, but do for 25 if you didnt. They do a nice bright red. Could you get one of your pairs dyed?

I have red shoes!! I stole the idea of coloured shoes from my sister as she had puple shoes. My red shoes are very much what I would call Dorothy shoes very red and very glittery. My bridesmaids don't like them but I'm the one wearing them and it's what I want which I'm a great believer in if I want it I will have it. X

I have red shoes! I knew straight away that I wanted them. Red is my favourite colour but I didn't want bridesmaids to have red dresses. I've gone for over the top, bright red, glittery shoes! I didn't want to spend a fortune on them so I ordered from a company on eBay. I love them! Going for sparkly converse for the evening. Here are my shoes...

The light might not be brilliant as I am hiding in wardrobe so my Fiancé doesn't see them!

Thank you for your encouragement! I really do think I want to do this. Either the red, which is very "me", or the blue, which could tie in more....I am going to do some serious research. I have looked at the Rainbow Club shoes and similar dyeable ones and there are several that are quite nice.....but I almost think that if I am going to make my statement, I want to have shoes that I may never be able to justify again....I've yet to decide whether to go cheap and cheerful, of which there are plenty on ebay etc, but am thinking of the risk to comfort factor, top end designer Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, on the basis its a once in a lifetime purchase, or "sensible wedding" ie Dyeable shoes that you would expect to be comfortable enough to last all day and night in.

But, I am defintely heading towards buying...

I did mention it to my daughter last night (who is BM)....who just said, No, you don't need them.

Yes, I know I don't *need* them. What she doesn't understand is that I REALLY REALLY *NEED* them......haha!!

They are a beautiful colour. I'm just not an IC fan....I much prefer clean lines, with perhaps just a touch of sparkle. I love my LKBennetts, and part of me did think of just buying a pair of those in red, as I know they are comfortable and that I will wear them again and again and again (probably to the office), but then the "bride" in me is saying "MORE"!!

Work is going to be busy today, which is a pig because I really want to look for shoes!!!

I've seen some lovely Badgley Mischka ones in my hunt.....

    Oh dear!!

I think you should definitely go for red!

Youre going to be standing next to so many people all day and you can't possibly tie in to everyone. The only person you have to tie in with really is you! If you're having red nails then definitely go for red shoes too then when you have a little flash of shoe it matches your fingernails and you will look fab-u-lous! You won't be holding your flowers much after the ceremony/photos so they don't need to match.

And you really need to have a word with your daughter - everybody *needs* more shoes! She didn't really need a new and beautiful bridesmaid dress as she had a perfectly good one already picked but I'm sure she still did a happy dance when you came home with that beauty.

Go for it!! And I hope you find a knock out pair that blow your other shoes out of the water! ?❤️?❤️?

Haha, thank you Pipsy....! I'm pretty sure my mind is made up, although I have just emailed the dress shop to ask their opinion. I'm sort of thinking that if I get red shoes, and decide on the day that they are OTT, then I have my others there ready to slip into. If I don't get the red shoes, I may regret not having that choice and wondering "what if".

Another reason for getting some is the lovely photo opportunities it will give!!

    I'm on the case!!
