Animals at a Wedding

Sondy, 25 September, 2015 at 10:58 Posted on Planning 0 17

Has anybody ever been to a wedding with animals?

I'm not talking about guidedogs but really any kind of animals involved?

I have photographed a number of weddings where the bride and grooms doggy came where they sat in on the ceremony but there was someone else to look after them and then shortly after they took them home.

Or the doggy will be sometimes be just brought along for a visit during the mingling / photos stage and only stay for 15 mins just to say hello.

A bride arranged for her horse to visit for one wedding I shot.

    Awh these look amazing!
I have this crazy pipedream to have my pet guineapigs at my wedding as ring bearers or for some of the photos....I think it might have to stay a pipe dream though ?

I used to have guinea pigs and I can't imagine them being well behaved enough to be ring bearers! Also they might try to chew them. At Gretna they offer owl ring bearers, my H was kind of obsessed with the idea for a while but a) I'm a bit spooked out by big birds that flap suddenly and b) they're expensive!

My boys are really good so I'm not worried about chewing/misbehaving...my only concern is whether our venue will allow it. I'd have a ribbon tied with the rings on their backs a bit like a collar. My brother who's a pageboy has offered to carry them on some kind of cushion (though it would have to be waterproof because one my pigs likes to wee...

It's a crazy idea I know so probably won't end up going for it. Might have their photos done into props for the photobooth in the evening instead...probably more sensible

At one point I was looking at a local-ish reception venue which allowed dogs so that ours and the-inlaws dogs could be there however H2B vetoed the idea and the venue were unresponsive anyway haha.

I'm a horse owner and have many horsey friends. A lot of them have had their horse and/or dog there on the wedding day. I'm undecided yet but probably both dog and horse will be attending, just a bit more to organise!

I would love for our dogs to come and be in some of our wedding photos. Depends on who we can get to look after them, I might have to pay a professional dog boarder but hopefully if they have the means to do it they can bring the dogs over for post ceremony photos. I don't know though, I think I'd want them to stay and miss all our photo time.

I've shot plenty with dogs, usually outdoor festival style weddings. I think you could have the guinea pigs just have a designated friend/person to take them home after the ceremony or have their cage at the venue next to the cards box or something!

I really, really wish our dog could have been at our wedding but my OH's aunt is very scared of dogs.

If she was there, I'd just look after her. She's a very obedient dog, and my pride and joy. I have more pictures in my office of her than my husband and she's also the background on my phone ?. We wouldn't have been able to have the reception where we did, but I'd be OK with that.

If you can do it, I definitely would.

Personally I am allergic to anything furry, but I think it would be awesome to attend a wedding with the beloved pets of the bride and groom - i would just need plenty of antihistamines in my clutch bag :-P

I'd give anything to have my 4 legged baby make an appearance for the photo portion... but everyone who could bring her is at the wedding... we've got a dog sitter who lives to far away Smiley sad

I'm definitely having our dog Teddy there, he's coming for the reception drinks and photographs, he's our world and wanted him included. Bit tough if any of the guests don't like dogs Smiley smile x
