Annabanana (& anyone else waiting for U2 tickets)

Have you been to one of the gigs yet? we were in dublin on sat night and whilst a couple of the songs were great (vertigo, sunday bloody sunday stick out), overall i was quite disappointed. it wasnt anything like as good as the elevation gig we went to, or the zoo one i went to before. bono's voice is most certainly not as good as it was he really struggled during "with or without you" for example. plus he did that thing which I HATE at gigs where they just hold the mic out to the crowd and let the crowd sing half the song. ffs, i ve just paid a fortune to come to this gig, you fucking sing!

Not yet - only going to the one wembley gig. I've heard very mixed reviews about the tour so far but am stilll looking forward to it. My first show was on the elevation tour and I didn't really enjoy it but I had such a great time when i went to see them during the vertigo tour. Bono's voice can be a little dodgy sometimes - he really needs to give up the fags.

Nick I posted the other day asking what you thought. Ive seen a few clips online and his voice doesn't sound the best. Im going to Wembley and Cardiff with H who's never been to one, and I hope the atmosphere will make up for any shortfalls ?

the internet, newspapers and other media are full of negative reviews. its hardly breaking news.

the atmosphere before they came on was amazing. the kaiser cheifs opened and were great, but when U2 came on their three openers were from the new album and tbh, the atmosphere went really flat until they did "boots" when it finally picked up. we met a couple that had been to the friday gig as well and said that sat was much much better, which made me wonder about friday really. vertigo was the higlight for me - i looked around the stadium and the whole place was electric. overall it was mixed, i dont think i d go and see them again though, theyre definitely getting past it, though edge was amazing.

oh, edited to add that bono did his usual political interlude, which whilst creative, was a bit lame. there was a message from desmond tutu which fell flat, and when bono asked everyone to wave their mobiles in the air, no one (well, a few) did ?

Its his hair plugs that I find most distressing. How can any sane man ever think that it right?
