Annoying your cats - is it just me that likes to do this?

baublegirl, 26 November, 2008 at 13:55 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

I just woke up our cat in order to show him the two squirrels that were cavorting around on our decking, about 3 feet from the window.

He's is now apoplectic with rage and is shouting feline insults through the window. I find it quite amusing.

Am I cruel???

Our cat doesn't get hideously angry, he just gives you 'a look'.

Generally after being made to dance, having been kissed on top of the head repeatedly, having been made to be a motorcycle, or a happy reindeer, or been spun round, or any of the other highly entertaining things we do to with him.

The other cat would just cry, or look so sad it breaks your heart, so we leave him alone.

    Oh, we're sooooooooo funny! ?

When ours were kittens I used to poke them in the day to keep them awake so they wouldn't run round like fools in the night time ?

Clara now spends quite a lot of time stalking them. They're very tolerant, considering!

Oh good, glad it's not just me. THere's something very satisfying about irritating such haughty creatures.

Although I think I'm forgiven now, as he sitting on my knee.

H - ours are fantastic with the children and will happily be hugged and pulled about (to an extent, I do teach gentle!) and I think it's great for them to grow up with cats about. Lots of opportunities for them to be dressed up in dolls clothes later on as well ?

We play fetch with our cat, she brings empty contact lense cases onto the bed so we throw them and she chases them and brings them back. Its so funny. H is always irritating the cat, he loves playing with the laser pointer with her. She does retaliate by pouncing on his nethers in the night though ?

Not cats, but my parent's dog has a hatred of squirrels.

She understands the word, so if she hears you say it, she pricks her ears up and runs for the back door. If the door is open, or she can get someone to let her out, she charges down the garden barking her head off. ?

Ours play fetch too. One with my hairbands (although he gets a bit protective, and you get bitten if you don't pick it up and throw it quick enough). One used to love corks, to the extent that he'd get really frantic whenever the corkscrew came out.

He'd keep retrieving the same cork all day, until they generally got stuck under some furniture. When we moved house the removal men pulled out the fridge and there must have been 100 corks behind there ?. They must have thought we were alcoholics ?

I cat annoy too. Like to think of it as helping to keep her brain active.

One of my her favorite things is for me to help her jump up and down, she also likes having pretty clips put in her fur and having her belly wobbled whilst she is in her bed. However her absolute favorite thing is to be put out of the landing window so she's on top of the garage when I find her asleep on my bed. It must be her favorite as she does it many times a day?

GOK how she puts up with the torment. If it was being done to me I'd leave

    I love annoying my cat.

    He's a vicious swine though.

Nothing better than baiting him with a heavily padded arm (aka dressing gown) and giving him a prod only to have him wrap his entire self around said arm and kick the bejesus out of it.

He has retaliated quite often by attacking my ankles when I come out the shower.

Once he chased me back into the bathroom. I slammed the door shut only to find that the cat was in the bathroom with me- he'd ran in behind me!

    Waaah@baublegirl. I love that image.

It's only really Chloe that plays a lot with actual things, she loves hairbands too, so much so that she tends to hoard them somewhere. She has this little grey mouse she has had for six years now. She loves it so much she doesn't play with it in case the other two want a go, she keeps it hidden somewhere in the house. We keep coming across it and she keeps getting really irritated and stalking off with it in her mouth making a grumbly noise. Our other cat Tanis is too clever for his own good, he can open doors etc and it really annoys him if you hold onto the handle so it doesn't work.

Well our cat is 20 and a bit frail now, so we have to be careful.

That said, she'll sleep in her bed all day until I come home, then she makes a mad dash for my 'spot' on the sofa and snuggles in. So I go and sit in her bed and 9 times out of 10 she'll come running over grumbling at me, so I nip back to reclaim my seat on the sofa and she'll sit there looking back and forth between her bed and the sofa all confused and annoyed. ?

We also pick her up and hold her like a baby and rub her tummy, which solicits a death stare.

My cat does this too. We filck them, they fly off like a frisbie, George shouts at them, then goes and gets them. When he is hungry we find them in his bowl.

Loki chases 'toys' (corks, pens, sweet wrappers, etc) until they go under an armchair, then he gets bored.

A while ago OH lifted up a chair to get something from under it and there were loads of things under it - the cat ran over and sat under the lifted-up chair looking round like "ooh, look at all these toys!". OH shouted "just pick something and play with it!" and ended up dragging the whole lot out in one sweep, before he dropped the chair on the cats head ?

God I love cats, and it can be amusing to wind them up but unfortunately it doesn't work that well with Lucy. she's a persian and they are well known to have a short attention span so you can play with her for about 5 mins and then she'll wonder off because she's bored.

Strangely enough, she is the only cat that I've ever known to love having her tummy rubbed so I don't get my arm stredded! I have managed to train her to sit for her treats...its her party trick that I she must show all guests in the house.

I love nothing better than picking up my cat and giving him a big cuddle and lots of kisses - especialyl if he's all curled up, asleep and looking cosy on he sofa. I then also get the death stare. I've done it so often than now when I got to bend down towards him I either get a whack around the nose with a sharpened paw or my nose gets bitten. My OH who doesn't do kisses and hugs get his nose licked. It's soooooo unfair, but I've come to realise my cat hates me - which makes me want to kiss and hug him even more!!!!
