Any advice on a post-dated passport?

Mrsmooretobe, 29 December, 2014 at 11:07 Posted on Planning 0 1

Hi,

I think this has probably been asked time and time again, but here goes. Has anyone applied for a post-dated passport in their married name? If so, do I have to fill out an application form as well as the post date form? Do I tick the box for renewal on the application form? And do I fill it in in my new married name or my current maiden name?

Any help/advice/experience greatly appreciated! x

    Hi

You're probably best off just ringing the Passport Office directly. Their number's ****.

I did this about a month ago. You have to fill in a renewal form and pay for a new passport, as well as getting the registrar/vicar to complete the post date form. You also have to pay for a new 10 year passport, regardless of how much time is left on your old passport.

If I remember correctly, you fill out the form with your existing details, then put your new name in the name change box. I did mine at the Post Office using their check and send service and they talked me through it all. It is very confusing but they were really helpful. It took about a week for my new passport to come through.
