Just want to know where you are all getting married. Where you think highly of, and where is a no-no.

All answers would be greatly appreciated.

Hiya, I'm from Staffs area and I've been looking round for a venue. I've been looking for a venue with character Smiley smile preferably to fit in with a 'Victorian Gothic' theme.

I've looked at Rowton Castle, which was a possibility for a while - the building is lovely and there's accommodation included in the price.

I've seen Peckforton Castle, which was absolutely gorgeous but really too pricey when it got down to it - but would be worth a look if you're prepared to have a weekday wedding in off-peak times.

Caverswall Castle would have been my first choice, but has had to get crossed off my list as they're having serious trouble with planning permissions/licences for holding weddings. It might go their way, but it might not, and I can't imagine anything worse than your venue being shut down the week before your wedding!

Heath House we really liked, it's a mansion with the Victorian Gothic theme going on, but we couldn't get our numbers right - they can only have a max of 65 for the wedding breakfast if you want it in the house (which we did) else if is in a marquee outside.

We haven't seen Crewe Hall, but that was looking like a good option for a while as it's quite close and has plenty of accommodation, which was important for us as we have family coming from all over. And the pics we've seen it looked great. Friends of ours are getting married there in May.

We now think we're getting married in Yorkshire!

How did you fine the prices. I take it your getting married and then having the reception at the same place. That's on our top 10 list.

That's not bad at all, our's would be slightly less as we have 60 to the day and about 90 to the night. Part of the reasons me any my OH love it so much is the picture opportunities.
