Any doctors and La P please

I had a client react to a perm yesterday, I can't go into details but if everything she has ever had wrong with her is to be believed, she wouldn't be alive. She is known to exagerate a lot about various things, but mainly illnesses.

Anyway, as soon as I had put the perm lotion on, she said it was stinging, so I rinsed it off straight away. She said it was still stinging when I left, so I advised her to call her GP. I spoke to the L'oreal helpline last night and she has offered my client allergy testing and said they can test the retainer to see if it was a problem with the perm. I passed the number on to my client and she spoke to l'oreal this morning.

I had a follow up phone call from l'oreal to say client doesn't want to go to GP but symptoms worsened and she had phoned the out of hours last night. Apparently they were worried because her body had swollen and she had a rash and tingling lips. But she still refused to be seen. L'oreal are sending her a letter advising her to be seen by her GP before it is permed again, and I have said the same. I'm going to call her later and tell her I'm not comfortable re perming until she has the all clear from docs, but I don't trust that she will actually go. I really think she will say she has gone and everything is fine, but I need to know for sure. So is there anyway I can find out is she's been and what course of action is being taken? Can the GP write me a report up for my own records? I'm thinking not because of confidentiality, but I don't really know what else to say. Any advice will be very welcome ?

Yes, I'm mobile. I'm about to ring her, I definately won't perm her hair until she's been, but I don't trust that she will go. I'll just ask her to ask her GP for some info for my records, surely they can give me something? Thanks ?

You could pay the GP to give you a factual report regarding her reaction - if she went to him - and with her signed consent.Liekly to be about £32.

Sounds pretty pointless to me; what can they say except yes she's allergic to it; just don't perm her again.

Is she a new client to you? Have you permed her hair before?

Thanks Zoay, I need to know whether she has had a reaction or whether it's her bull sh1tting tbh. But I'm not prepared to be out of pocket for it. I have told her I won't perm it again until I know whether it's likely to happen again. L'oreal will pay for her to have allergy testing, so at least we'll know what she reacted to, might even be the fragrance. I've spoken to her again this evening and when I told her this, she back tracked and said it could be a bug (!) or her asthma (!!) and she's now panicking. So I think I can safely say, this is her attention seeking coming out and nothing actually happened.

IQ, I have permed her hair loads before and used the same lotion.

that's just it. She doesn't want any compensation or free service, it really does seem like it's just the attention. It's all very odd, I had pre damped it too, so some lotion may well have touched her scalp before anyway. If she did have a reaction, then surely it would have stung from the start. I am sure she has some sort of medical issue, I see her every week at mums and tots and she has something different wrong with her each time.

Good idea about the disclaimer, I will mention that to her. It was Dulcia Tonica I used, I've used that one 3 times on her previously with nothing wrong. L'oreal have been fab about it, in fact when I originally phoned the office was shut. The security guard picked it up and took my details then got one of the girls to ring me from home. This was about 9pm, no ill feeling towards them at all.

I may be being over cautious here - but I wouldn't be touching her as a client again - if for no other reason than I could do without the drama!

I think I would just tell her that you can't do her hair anymore, sounds like she's a nightmare and it's not worth the stress
