Any hitchers make candles?

I have done in the past. It's very easy to do.

I'd probably suggest getting a starter kit, and then going from there. It will almost certainly be paraffin wax, but is a good place to start.

Thanks Flowery, 'tis a good idea. I'll keep an eye out for a kit (candle making doesn't seem popular here for some reason).

Our local supermarket craft section has all the bits - bags of wax, wax dye, wicks, moulds etc, but no kits, or I would send you one (though the instructions would be in French). I know you can get them in HobbyCraft in the UK - can you get anyone to send one out?

Hi Flowery. Thanks very much for the kind offer. I went out today and found paraffin wax and wicks etc so suddenly it is possible to make candles out here. I've been emailing some gorgeous US sites with the most amazing stuff, hoping that shipping isn't too astronomical....
