Any Ideas or tips?

FIONATS73, 10 February, 2009 at 09:41 Posted on Planning 0 10

My friend has very kindly offered to my hair and make-up on the morning of the wedding. I know a number of you are doing the same.

What I wondering is what are you doing to prepare you skin?

I use face masks now, generally from every week to every couple of months. Is there any good face masks our there you would recommend?

My wedding make-up I am treating myself to some bits will last me a while as well. Smashbox primer, Bobbi brown gel eyeliner and some of bare essentials foundation. Is there anything you would recommend?

Thanks in advance

If you have time start having facials once a month, they get rid of dead skin and give you a glow. however dont just have 1 a couple of days before the wedding as sometimes they can make your skin worse before it gets better, speak to your local salon to see what they advidse depending on when your wedding is?

Don't overlook eating lots of fruit. Since I stopped work I've been eating a lot less snacks and more fruit. I didn't think I'd notice much of a difference as I did it out of habit rather than consciously but my skins cleared right up! give it a go, I get through about 3-4 pieces a day and have really noticed a difference in only a couple of weeks

    Hey,

I agree alot of my brides will have facials once a month on the lead up to the wedding and a mini and full facial on the month of the wedding to help your skin look glowing.

Use an exfoliater once a week but a non gritty one - virgin vie have a good one with a serum and a non setting face mask helps to re-hydrate the skin so you could try that-.

any other tips just ask Smiley smile x

Drink plenty of water too. Also, i can highly recommend the Laura Mercier primer over the smashbox one as well.

Thanks, I drink between 2 and 3 litres of water a day so OK on that side. I have just had a nosey at Laura Mercier, they have an oil free one which may be better as I am prone to spots. Will speak to the ladies in selfridges tonight when go the trafford centre.

H2b will really himself tonight lol me dragging him around the make-up counters! He already hates the trafford centre with a passion, but does a visit say once a year lol

Not sure about your skin type - mine is quite oily, and to prepare mine I used Olay clay mask once or twice a week for about 8 weeks, and a facial scrub every other day (st ives apricot one). Because my skin is so oily it can put up with that much exfoliation but if yours is drier I would use a very gentle one and only once a week.

Our beauty expert here once told me that if your skin is oily, don't miss out moisturiser. If you do, it thinks it's parched and creates more oil to compensate.

I can recommend Decleor Hydra Floral moisturiser. It's light, but nice.

Also Elemis rehydrating Ginseng toner. It sprays on, which is handy.

I use Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel once a week. It exfoliates but isn't gritty. Leaves my skin really soft and glowing.

Tip for dry cuticles. OPI Avoplex cuticle oil. That stops my nails from drying out.

    Um what else?

Oh Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream is a great face cream, but it's too expensive for me!

    Thanks ladies,

Well I bought, or should I say h2b bought my bobbi brown eyeliner and brush for me ( but then I bought tea). I have a sample of Laura Merceir primer to try, at a wedding reception on Saturday so try it under my makeup then. I have a new face wash and weekly fash scrub from Virgin V, visited the bare essentials counter to get my choice of colour for foundation.

Well what can I say, it was a young man which was serving which is fine, he must have had more make up on inc lipstick than i where in a month!

Not happy with colour he picked looked pale, so think need to find another supplier to ask

H2b wasn't to bad being dragged around bridal sections of debenhams and bhs never saw the one in john lewis or selfridges. But dosn't matter think I have found what I want. But he was making me laugh at the bare essentials counter standing behind this lad, so I got the giddles!

    Thanks again

Cool. I had bare essentials make up on for my wedding, and it lasted really well - I didn't touch up once on the day.

Also, if you like plums, eat these. And have hot water in the mornings with a slice of lemon in.
