any london restaurant recommendations please?

Ohwhatatuesday, 30 December, 2013 at 18:38 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

I'm looking for a nice place to eat fairly last minute just wondered if anyone had any recommendations? It'd be for table this Saturday so ideally not somewhere with a long waiting list. I know we're cutting it fine so will probably need to ring a few places. Nothing too over the top dress wise as we'll be in London all day - budget is about £150 for the two of us we'll be in Hatton garden day time and need to go home via Liverpool street so anything that we can back to Liverpool st I'm about half an hour/40 mins would be good. I was meant to book and forgot so trying to redeem myself! Any recommendations would be greatly received

I don't think you can go wrong with Hawksmoor...there's one in Spitalfields.

It might be worth trying Duck and Waffle at Heron Tower too...it is the first weekend in January and everyone is fed up of food, so you might get lucky!

I second Duck & waffle. My friend went there the other day & said it was lovely!

Considering how much I love food I can't for the life of me think of many places I've been to in that part of town.... I have eaters block!

We went to Hutong at the Shard lovely view price wasn't cheap but the food was nice. It was Chinese but there is also another restaurant there too. Or try Gaucho on the Thames, alot of people go there too. Or Jamies restaurant at New Change I've never been to that one but its not far from Liv st.

There's a few places round by St Pauls/ One New Change and as it's very corporate round there they may be quieter on a weekend. I think someone already mentioned the Jamie Oliver place, there's also Bread Street Kitchen which is Gordan Ramsey. I really like the Bleeding Heart which is not far from Smithfields.

DMC - where did you end up going? Have loads of suggestions for next time!

Oh and to add - Galvin la Chapelle - had DREADFUL service there recently, extremely rude staff (well, 2 members of staff to be specific). Just saying... hope you didn't end up there!

I tried a few on the list but we had trouble getting in (I'm not sure why as London was very quiet last night) in the end we went ot The Quince restaurant at the Mayfair Hotel. The food was lovely and very reasonably priced too! I'm keeping this list of restaurants for our next night out!

Sorry, should read the whole thread... so my post is a second vote for La Chapelle. Didn't know it had a Michelin star!
