Hello , thankyou for your reply . My skin is combination with an oily t-zone and slightly dry cheeks . The concealer is from boots no7 and so is the foundation , the concealer is a bit like ysl touche eclat .

It sound slike it could be the Protect and perfect you are putting on first. I have found in the past that these types of moisturiser can be quite thick and can leave a film over the skin causing the makeup to not glide on easily and tends to stick and cake in places.

Do you use the primer and foundation for combination skin?

It's your No 7 primer that's doing it - i HATED this product when i tried it.
It just grabs foundation and makes it look really caked.

I would suggest you try 0C8 underneath instead www.oc8.co.uk . It's just as mattifying but base sits well on the top. Skip the Protect and Perfect on your tzone on the day to as it's silicone based so will make your skin slidey.

Try exfoliation aswell. I agree with Juliet and get a matte primer.

Hi ladies , it appears you are right about the primer being rubbish as ive had a look at it,s reviews on the boots website and lots of people have had the same problem , what a waste of £11 !! do you have any recommendations for another one thats around the same price ?

More expensive but by far the best product I've ever bought is Laura Mercier primer. I swear by the stuff!

I have just stardted using Kiehls Rare Earth Pore Refining Toner - you pat it onto any oily areas and it firms up the pores and the clay in it soaks up any oil produced.

I absolutely agree Laura Mercier Primer is just the most amazing product and i use it on all of my clients. However at £32 its slightly pricey.

But there is another product i also love and use on myself. Its not called a make up primer however it ddoes hold that job and it smells amazing.

Its Body Shop Vitamin C serum and at £8 its a lot more affordable.

You need to cleanse, exfoliate, tone & then moisturise. This will get you a better surface to work on. Then allow your moisturiser to sink in slightly (but not all the way) then apply the serum (you don't need alot at all) then gently rub it in until it feels smooth and not oily. It really work s well on blemishes etc.

So yeah give that a go, like i say i use it on myself and i love it. And if i ever run out of Laura Mercier i use it on clients its great and at a good price.
