RKB I love the red trim on your veil, very different!

I'm getting married on 29th December, can't wait! Don't have a colour scheme yet, thinking dark red or burgundy with gold but mainly depends on getting the right bridesmaids dresses then will plan everything else around them.

I covered the photography for a wedding last December 17th. Was very cold but the bride, God bless her, was up for traveling to some London locations for some great portrait and natural shots. She didn't even look cold in the photos. You can view them here: Catherine and Michael's Wedding

One piece of advice for everyone planning a winter wedding is to ensure your photographer completes any formal shots prior to about 3pm when the light starts to fade. It was close with us but I managed to get them done in the nick of time. Unless of course you photographer carries extensive lighting equipment around in which case it doesn't matter!

Another December Bride here -27/12/12. We wanted the 28th (our anniversary) but our venue was already booked so instead we shall wake up on our anniversary as Husband and Wife Smiley laugh.

We've getting married at The Abbey hotel, Golf and Country Park....gorgeous setting. We're having cadburys purple (the lighter of the two lol), silver and hearts (we were banned from having snowflakes by the SIL2B as she too will be having a winter wedding in the next few years lol).

So excited just trying to make a short list of honeymoon destinations (we're planning on asking people to pay a contribution instead of giving us gifts) - any recommendations?

    xx

Not been on for a while, but getting there with the Wedding Preps - now have:

    • Venue & Registar Booked - The Alma Inn at Laneshwbridge, Colne Lancashire
    • Colour Scheme is the Dark Rich Red of Xmas, Black & Ivory
    • Decided on Hand Made Wedding Dress in the dark rich red colour as I did not want any thing that was too traditional or white, plus I want to be able to adapt it to a ball gown after as we cruise a lot
    • Bridesmaid dresses sorted - again not going with traditional colours, they will be in black, youngest who will be 3 is in ivory
    • Grooms outfit sorted - he is in a one off designed Tux from Scruples of Barrowford, his waistcoat and cravat will match my dress
    • Bestman, groomsmen etc will be black suits, with ivory waist coats and the red cravat
    • Cake sorted
    • Honeymoon sorted

Next is the invites, cars and photography, though the photography will be fun as I am one and will be very choosy given I shoot weddings, portraits etc for a living. Hopefully we will be able to get my nephew (also a photoigrapher) home of the ships to take them.

    Until Next time

    Fiona ?

If you haven't set a ceremony time yet, try for no later than 2pm.

I had a load of weddings last December with them at 3pm and it was pitch black outside by 4pm!

Hi all, another December one here. We are on the 29th down in the deepest depths of Dorset. Just over 7 months to go and I am not sure how organised I am at this stage!!

So far have the following sorted:

Dress - Bought & paid for thanks to my Mummy ?

Photographer - Deposit paid next instalment June 29thth

Rings - Can't wait to wear it.

Venue - Deposit paid, having a few issues here which need ironing out before June 29th when they want a further £2K ?

Flowers - Well under away and loving the ideas. The florist is on the same wave length

Church - Booked, they just need a vicar!

Not having bridesmaids or users so no hassles there

    Transport - booked

Hair - My friend is doing

Hummm ? What else should i have done by now?

Hello date twin Puddycat! Are you having fresh flowers? I need to find out what's available that week because most of the markets are shut between christmas and new year, but some flowers can be cold stored to last til the Saturday.

My dad is organising cars and I think he's looking at vintage cars but I think I'll need to look into a back up in case it snows. My cousin has a landrover so might ask her to be on standby! Or else a sledge pulled by huskies ?

I need to sort BM dresses, everything in the shops is so summery. Don't know whether to wait for new stock or just get something made?

Ours is on December 14th! We've got a choir and a father christmas in with the deal, and we're having a Narnia-esque style ceremony with wontery trees to line the aisle, and we're all ivory, chapagne and gold. The boys are all wearing wool 3 pieces and ties - not cravats! yuk.

We've also got a 4 tiered snowman cake, and we're having gingerbread men and home made tree decorations as favours. I'm making some snow domes out of old jam jars and retro decorations to go on all the tables too.

    I can't wait!!!

Hi Kriek, I thrilled to have a date twin, everyone thinks it's a very strange day but I love it.

Humm, flowers. Yes fresh flowers as I love them. I know your pain. I originally thought it would be easy until I started going to the florists!! The florist i am using has said that there is a flower market open on the 28th that she will go to so guess I am very lucky. I think it is more of the case of Christmas shutdown ☹️ Tess Our florist has said that most of the flowers can also be stored. We are having Black Calla, Orchids & Gypsophia i think, but this is yet to be confirmed.

Hee Hee Transport was an easy one for us but we have had to make sure that our venue was on main roads for the weather reasons. We still may have to get the boys out to grit the road to the church tho ? which i find highly amusing as the 3 are all in kilts ?........... I LOVE the idea of huskies ... we have a Rottie do you think that would work? ?

BM dresses. Good luck. I am not having any for a few reasons. Politics being one but another being that the 4 nieces are in Elgin, Canterbury, Swanage & Dorset & it was way too complicated. Don't think the FMIL is very impressed but tough. ? Have you an idea of what you want in your head? There is plenty of time to get them made. Some of the american websites have some good ideas and or links if you want to go down that route?

Oooo I have another to add to the list that I forgot. Cake! have you managed to get that sorted yet? I spoke to a few cake people that said due to that date it would have to be fruit cake. Mum and I have opted to bake these ourselves and have them professionally decorated. My first trial run is in the oven right now and is smelling yummy ?

    Oooh excellent Mrs Bradford2be, I didn't think we'd get a twin, it's a bit of a random day!!!

I love the sound of your day, your cake sounds wonderful!!! we're going gold and ivory, with a narnia type ceremony. My friends mum is making us a 4 tier snowman cake, so we're doing a fruit base, choccy middle, ginger cake head, and sponge top hat!! He's gonna be great!!

We seem to have everything organised too!! It's scary cos I'm usually so haphazard! My dress is arriving from Barcelona this week too, I'm going for my first try on next Monday, can't wait to see it again!

What kind of favours you going for?

OMG - sorry for the very late response!!

That cake sounds amazing and yummy!!

We are thinking of having snowflake biscuits with white icing wrapped in clear plastic and a little gold ribbon tied around it ? what are you thinking of?

Whats your dress like??! I have decided on a lace shrug to go over mine as its gonna be freezing!!!

    Hello Mrs B2B!!

We're going with gingerbread men, again in little plastic/cellophane wrappers, tied with gold ribbon. The kids are also getting a candy cane, and the adults are getting a christmas tree decoration too. Me and my Mum have sat and knitted 120 cream hearts, I'm in the middle of embroidering a gold snowflake on half of them, then we're stitching them together, stuffing them and tying ribbon on. They're looking very fancy.

I've got a real snow queen dress, it's an Atelier Diagonal one called Oropesa, but I'm not having the straps. I got a mantilla veil from ebay for £10, which I've had to re-stitch the lace on, but well worth it considering they're usually £150!!! I've got a little maribu feather cape for outside photos too which is really cute. I like the sound of a lace shrug though!! That sounds lovely!!! What's your dress like??

We've asked all the guests to come in sparkles and fur too so it should be really opulent and wintery!!

    Can't wait!!!

    xxx

Another December bride here! still can't quite believe it's happening ? Got engaged at the end of May.

We've found and booked the church and reception venue, done a guest list (now on version 5!), sent out save the date cards (it's a weekday), bought bridesmaids dresses, and I've bought shoes and a tiara. Oh, and we've seen the registrar and booked some marriage preparation.

But - that's it - still loads to do - my immediate list is TOG, honeymoon, hotel, DRESS. And I'm really hoping I'll find a bride from last year who wants to sell me three matching fur shrugs... I am so going to freeze on the day...

Any other urgent things I should be thinking about? Am trying to do it in manageable chunks - there are just so many decisions to make!

Love the idea of asking guests to come in sparkles and fur!

Wondering what to do about the cake - want it to look Christmassy/winter-y - but like a wedding cake, not a Christmas cake! Any thoughts?

    How is everyone else doing?

    Hi Kingfisher

Wellington boots and umbrellas are a good idea! We've got a box of each just in case.

We had a few ideas for cakes in the beginning, a pile of snowballs - loike a cupcake tower - a gingerbread house, or I was going to ask my dad to make me a wooden sledge, and have a cake in the shape of a pile of presents sat on top. The other one was a cupcake stack but with eggnog flavoured cupcakes. You could have a 3 tiered ice blue one with icicles hanging from each tier!? The possibilities are endless!!

I did a google search for snowman cakes and got loads of ideas, but "winter wedding" searches also bring up loads of amazing mood boards and other fab ideas.

Glad to give you some ideas if you need anything, I'm loveling the planning, thinking of taking it up permanently!!! hahaha

Hi, I'm another December bride and new to Hitched.

We're getting married on the 1st and I can't wait ? It's the first wedding of the year where the venue will have the Christmas tree up so we're having a bit of a Christmas theme. Colours are Cadbury purple and silver and although still a few months away, the organising is pretty much done! Just the few last minute things once final RSVPs have been received.

My dress should be here next week and I'm soooooo excited ??

Hi, I am getting married on 8th December 2012 and I really can't wait! We only got engaged at the end of April and couldn't face waiting til next December (brat haha!).

I am LOVNG planning the wedding and not finding it stressful at all. I got some beautiful snowflake invitations off eBay - they are a mother and daughter team who handmake them all. The day invitations were only £1.20 each and they did a budget evening range which were only 70p each...they do not look budget at all though, they look so expensive and I am thrilled!

In terms of colour schemes / themes, I am not having flower centrepieces - rather twigs sprayed lightly with snow, and placed in vases with fairy lights, and candles on the table...also scattered crystals. Bridesmaids are in one-shouldered Grecian style aubergine dresses, but I think the chair sashes will probably be silver...I like the combination of rich and cool colours.

My bouquet is just white roses with green foliage, and the BMs will have the same, but with some small aubergine coloured flowers to match their dresses.

The venue is the Priory Barn at Little Wymondley, which I absolutely love!

I have loved reading through your posts - I LOVE Christmas, and can't wait for the DJ to play Fairytale of New York when we've all had a few drinks towards the end of the night! x x x

Lovely to read about other Dec brides ? I'm having a slight panic this morning at the thought of all that we've still got left to do - and only four months left! We've only been engaged for two months - I've got a dress yippee, but we still haven't got a band - or a TOG and VOG - or a hotel for the night - or cars - or musicians for the service - or any idea what to do about a gift list - and I haven't given a single thought to the decoration of the church/venue etc - argh! At least it's a weekday so I'm fairly confident suppliers won't all be booked up. But there's just so much to think about and decide!

This weekend we're doing a full weekend of a marriage preparation course - which will be brilliant - but then the following weekend we really need to get through a bit more wedding planning...
