Any other 19th May 2012 brides?! (or any other date in May 2012!)

-*Jo*-, 20 November, 2011 at 12:21 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi

Just wondering who else is getting married on 19th May 2012?

What stage is everyone else with planning and organisation?! We've got most of the major bits booked but still seem to have so much to do and decisions to make.

Am just about to start making the invitations and thinking of sending them out in January - not sure if that's too late but realistically it's going to take me a few weeks to make them and don't want to send them out too close to Christmas.

    Hi Jo

We're getting married a week after you on 26th may!

We've got all the major things booked and deposits paid like you.

    Venue

    Caterers and menus confirmed

Transport (for me anyway lol!) still unsure how OH and BM are getting to the church lol!

    Cake

    Florist

    Videographer

    Photographer

    Suits for men and pageboys

    My dress,veil,tiara and shoes

    Bridesmaid dresses and their shoes

    Flowergirl dresses

Hairdresser booked (need trial runs still)

Chair covers and other decoration etc

We've also got all our bridal party gifts aswell just the pageboys and parents left!

Like you i'm in the process of printing my invites and putting them together. I had planned to send ours out in January too so people have their new diary. Some people ive spoken to think its too early! My thoughts are that if you give people enough notice they should be able to make it. Especially as I have such a big family! We have 140 people to the sit down and 90 ish of them are just my side! Our RSVP date is 31st March which gives everyone 3 months to reply!

If they can't in that time then their very lazy lol!

The only thing I was unsure about was whether to send the evening invites at the same time or do they not need as much notice?Part of me thinks just send them at the same time so they are done?

I can't believe its only 6 months away!EXCITED but sooooo nervous!

I've also just started looking at post boxes off ebay too. Wwe are asking for contributions towards our honeymoon so we realised it would mainly be envelopes so one of these is ideal!

I'm going to decorate it myself as I have all the stuff.(and saves money)

How far have you got? its nice to know someone getting married around the same time to see if we've forgotten anything!

We're the 26th May too (and weirdly I will also become a Mrs White Linziloo!)

I'm planning to send our invites in January, mainly because I want people to have plenty of time to book hotels etc. Because I've got venue, caterers, cars, dress etc sorted I keep thinking there's nothing left to do and then remembering all the tiny details. And I am rubbish creatively so I have no idea how I'm going to bring it all together. Ho hum - I'm sure it'll be alright on the night!

Ahh, Linziloo - reading your list is making me feel like I am very unorganised!

    So far we have sorted:

    Church

    Reception venue

    Photographer and videographer

    Transport to and from Church

Potential bridesmaid dresses (just waiting for them to be tried on)

    Ordered my dress

Booked the band (my bro-in-law's the lead singer so that was the first thing we did!

    Hairdresser

    .....that's it!

I'm glad you are all thinking January too for sending out the invitations, I think the end of March is good for RSVP. I'm not sure when to send evening invites. Haven't put much thought into them until I have done the day ones! I think we won't send them out until later though - partly in case some of the day people aren't able to come and then we have a few evening people that we could bump up to day!

I hadn't thought about post boxes, but we are going to ask for honeymoon contributions as well so that would probably be a good idea.

    mrsjw2be - yay for the 19th May!

I can't decide what I want to do for favours. Would like it to be something homemade (for finacial reasons and because I think it would be nice) but am struggling for inspiration. Have considered making jam in little jars or a retro sweet table (which looks quite popular from other people on the forums).

    I'm 19th May too!

Did n't have a huge amount sorted but just lately things have started coming together so my list is gradually being ticked off!

So far have got church, venue, photographer, florist, car, dj, band, dress and shoes, bridesmaid dresses for the grown up bridesmaids, suits, cake, make up artist, invites being made.

Still have to sort out honeymoon and rings, flowergirls dresses, bridesmaids shoes, hairdresser, veil, accesories and God knows what else!

Getting very excited now it's only 6 months away!

You sound just as organised as me Jo ?

The only reason we've been able to be so organised is because my dads the village butcher and most of the people involved are customers of his lol!

The photographer, the florist, and the suit hire have all come through him!

I'm making the cake myself as I've done loads for family and friends and thought i'm not paying £400 for a cake that I could make myself!

Doing fruit cake though so I can make it well in advance! And my friend is making cupcakes for those who dont like fruit cake.

Reading your reply jogged my memory.

We've booked our band aswell and have our wedding rings. OH got a bridal set when he got my engagement ring so its been sat in its box for the past year lol!

I keep getting it out looking at how sparly it is compared to my engagement ring ? its amazing how dull rings can get after just a year!needs a good clean!

Me and the OH have literally just gone over the two guest lists and are debating when to send the day invites out for the same reason as you. There are a few friends that we would like to come to the day but only if some people decline.

    I'm stuck with favors too!

I really don't know what to do?

We are having a sweet table but wanted to have something personal at each place setting too.

So thinking avoiding anything edible as they have the sweets! And fairly cheap, not too cheap but with 140 guests even a £1 each adds another £140!

OH says we dont need to bother, his opinon is 'there getting a 3 course meal and entertainment for the evening why do we need to give them more' lol!

    Any ideas though?

    xx

I'm happy that I'm finding other people who are getting married around the same time! Am really trying not to bore friends / family / work collegaues etc with just talking about the wedding, but it's such a huge part of my life at the moment that it's nice to have people who are in the same situation to discuss things with. Also, think my OH is relieved as am less likely to keep getting stressy with him when he (understandably) doesn't know the answers to all my questions!

Linziloo - I'd like to make my own cake but am worried about doing the icing and decoration in case it turns out looking horrible.

I've seen a couple of homemade favours that I think are cute - one being wine-glass charms but not sure people would remember to take them, and would have to think of something else for children. I know what you mean about the cost of favours though - £1 each doesn't sound like much but when you add it all up it becomes quite a lot!

I'm May 12th. Pretty much all done. Just finished making the invites today. I'm going to send them out straight after new year and the deadline is 1st March. We only have a small number of day guests though so should be plenty of time to reply. Only thin left to do now is choose the drinks (menu is done) and complete the ceremony form.

Thanks for the replies everyone. It is reassuring to see people at different stages of organisation. Time seems to be flying by though and it's going to be May before we know it, I'm sure!

    Hi

We're getting married a on Monday 14th May in Italy, so feel we haven't got as much done as we should have, starting to panick!!

We've got all the major things booked and deposits paid like you.

Both Venues (ceremony, then restaurant afterwards)

menus NOT confirmed (need to start thinking about this)

We don't need transport as the castle, restaurant and hotel are all within 5-10 minutes walking distance (I'm looking forward to walking through the small town's cobbled streets in my dress with everyone looking on)

The rstaurant is providing a cake, but won't look particulary weddingy I think.

Florist still needs to be sorted, though I am making my own brooch bouquet!! which is very time consuming but really enjoying doing it and cant wait till it's finished. so I'll need to sort out flowers for the ceremony room when I arrive. Again the restaurant is providing flowers for the meal (again don't know what they will look like until I arrive)

Hadn't really budgeted for a Videorapher, but my brother is studying a degree in Media studies and have asked him to video the wedding.

Photographer, originally I wanted to get a local photographer as they would know the area and best places to take pictures. Unfortunately we have hit a very big issue with finances in the last 2 weeks and have therefore opted to hae my OH's cousin who is a semi professional)

Suits for men - cannot for the life of me get my OH to go and try on kilts, he'll look online but refuses to go and try them on at this time.

My dress is bought and all paid for aswell as my shoes (going to try on my dress tomorrow night,YAY! for an accessory night to try and work out the kind of veil I want)

    Bridesmaid dresses are bought

    Flowergirl dresses Bought

Hairdresser (hoping my OH's cousin will do my hair as again budget tight)

Not bothering with chair covers (i think, but may change my mind later)

I hae no clue about what to get for presents for the bridal party or parents....

My Invites should hopefully be arriving this week. As we're getting married abroad I want them out early, in actual fact I'm much later than I had originally hoped. We have invited 100 people but only expect 50 if that to come! Our RSVP date is 31st January so we know who has booked the flights etc as people will need to sort out flights and acommodation fairly quickly.

I can't believe its only 6 months away! and starting to feel overwelmed a bit. AS just 2 weeks ago, the tenant I was renting my flat to did a bunk and now I don't have any rental income, plus having to pay for the mortgage on the flat on top of the house I'm living in. It's totally stretched us budget wise and created far more stress than I would like. The tenant has damaged carpert (this will be deducted from the deposit, as well as a deep clean) and was a smoker (even though she said she wasn't) which means I'll need to repaint before another tenant comes in.

    Hi, ?

I'm 19th May, cant believe we are under 6 months to go already.

I think we are pretty much all organised, last few things were to sort flowers and boys kilts and they were done last weekend so I cant think of anything else urgent - well other than making my invitations and other stationary. Think we are sending invites out in Feb although a lot of people on this thread seem to be sending them out sooner so I'm starting to think thats maybe a bit late. Everyone has had STD cards though so hopefully it will be okay.

Hope everyone elses planning is all going well,
