Any other 2013 brides planning well ahead of time?

CarolineBride, 23 August, 2011 at 21:49 Posted on Planning 0 30

Hi

we are getting married in just under two years. Is anyone else planning towards a 2013 wedding yet?

As a teacher I've had time on my hands for the last few weeks and absolutely loved thinking and planning all things weddingy. It's going to be so hard when I go back to work and haven't any spare time - I'll be getting withdrawal symptoms.

Yes I was conscious that an August wedding was bound to be harder to book if I left it later.

Glad I'm not the only one. My OH keeps teasing me, saying I must rush as there's only 2 years to go.

I got engaged last week and we don't want to get married until May 2013 but everyone has told us to get the church and the recption venue sorted as soon as we can so that we don't have problems finding venues with availability.

I'm hoping to have the venues sorted within the next 6 weeks and then I can relax for a while!

Is it just me or is anyone else really daunted by the prospect of having to plan a wedding ?

    xx

I'm a July 2013 B2B and I've booked the venue and provisionally booked the registrar so thats the "big" stuff sorted as far as I am concerned.

I've decided on my colours, a v loose theme to keep it all tied together and started buying bits and bobs but thats it so far!

    I am July 2013 also.

As we have a big number of guests (150 sit down) we have also booked venue & church.

OH is sorting out the website and I have been looking up ideas for everything under the sun.

Plan not to book anything until after xmas as need to save a bit of money for other deposits.

Like the idea of save the date's sent out with Christmas cards.

Hi everyone, im also a 2013 bride. We have booked the ceremony venue and reception venue and bought two ivory umberellas. Thats all up to now. I already knew were I wanted my ceremony we just had to find a venue for the evening reception. One venue we went to had every Fri,Sat,Sun booked up in June, July and Aug already for 2013! I couldnt believe it. I didnt feel that bad then for planning early. I did pop into my local florist to get an idea of how much the flowers would be and she was quite shocked when I said the wedding isnt till 2013.

I am enjoying looking at all different ideas at the minute on the forums and people blogs. xx

You did well to get a quote Banner - I went to my nearest florest with pictures and ideas of what I wanted and asked for a quote. I'd told them it was for 2013 and I presume that was the reason they didn't take me seriously and wouldn't give me prices. They wanted me to go back nearer the time or when I had a budget (which I told them I had). Needless to say they won't be getting my business!

Hi, I got engaged in Feb and while we haven't booked our wedding we are hoping for October 2013-hoping to have venue booked by the end of the year all going well. That said I've been planning and deciding what we will be having in terms of what kind of invites, dresses etc so when we come to buy things we already know so won't have to spend time planning.

Hi ladies just wanted to say congratuulations to you all and a great money saving tip for save the dates is to do what i did and

order 250 free business cards from vista print they give you them free as a new business customer obviously i wasn't doing it for business but changed the info in it to save the date with all the details for free my theme is butterflies and the colour purple which they had a design of and where if you only buy the free option it says on the back printed by vistaprint i paid £8.99 to have thank you michelle and chris with a butterfly design,

they are great and everyone loves them they have thousands of designs and although i dont need 250 it was a very cheap way to get what i wanted and its helped wiith my seating chart as for everyone i sent out i duplicated it so i knew who i had invited to what.

hope all the above makes sense and good luck x

I wouldnt be going back there! The lady I went to was really nice. Told her what I wanted and I just needed a rough price as I have no idea how much flowers are. She explained that she can do flowers for any budget and the price goes up or down depending on the time of year as some flowers are more difficult to get hold of at certain times of the year. She told me to leave my number and when she is doing flowers similar to what I want I can go in and have a look!

I looked at an artificial posie with cream roses yesterday in a boutique shop and it was awful and they wanted £35 and the florist quoted me £50 for a real posie with cream roses and she would then make smaller ones for my bridesmaids. Least now I have a rough idea of how much they will be. I would try another florist xx

    Ref flowers

i will be going to my local flower market which isnt really local as its in bristol but you can buy the flowers direct and make things like posies and centrepeoces up yourself the day before as long as you have somewhere cold to keep them overnight, the only thing the florist is doing for me is my bouquet as its a waterfall and i cant do that, and if your not getting married until 2013 why not enrol in an evening flower arrangment course you could save hundreds, my grandmother did one for my aunties wedding and did all the button holes etc she even learned to work with craft mesh to make a silver holster for the buttonholes to fit in and added a little mesh heart to the top with a pearl pin in so much detail that cost hardly anything.

if you know what you want you have plenty of time to get your teeth into it also a bit of advice ref centrepeices they are expensive for one day once you decide if you want fishbows tall vases or rectangular ones buy a bit every month if you on a budget i have been and have a designated wedding box lol, i made winecharm favours myself for under £6.00 i made 200 and they are £1.50 each on ebay,

if i can help in anyway please ask im on a total budget exc food and photographer of £3000 so i have had to make a lot and i still have 9 months to go.

I am getting married in August 2013, and have quite a lot planned. We have our venue in Greece, I have chosen my dress, although not ordered yet, we don't have much to organise as most of it is done by our wedding planner in Greece but I have already been buying things like extra photo albums and guestbook etc.

We have chosen our cake and I have decided on my hairstyle and jewellery.

Bridesmaid dresses are my biggest bugbear, a lot of wedding shops look at me like I'm mad when I say 2013 and then say "oh you've got loads of time, wait until next years dresses are out", umm, excuse me, I would like to look now!

We only got engaged at the end of april so it feels like everything has just fallen into place quite easily., Just got the usual parental problems to fill the next 2 years!

    Hi all!

I'm a August 2013 bride too and as a teacher I also like to get things done in the holidays! Nobody we have booked so far has told us we are to early, including a florist!

We have booked venue, registra, photographer, cake, band and florist so far and we know our colour scheme so are currently researching invitations! We have been picking things up along the way to spread the cost, which is the reason weve booked so far ahead!

I've been engaged for 2.5 years and we're finally just starting to actually think about getting married in 2013! We would have got maried sooner but lots of personal reasons have not allowed us to. We've literally just started looking up venues so will hopefully be going to view some in the next month or so. We're not sure when in 2013 we'll get married yet, but I guess it depends on availability of the venue we want. It's all very exciting though, and we've not really done anything yet!!!

Ours is March 2013 and we've got quite a lot planned. Booked the ceremony, venue and registrar. The flowers are organised as is the colour scheme. Bridesmaid and bestman on board. Fireworks and DJ booked. We also have quotes for a cake and i've been once to try on dresses.

I have to admit i'm not some obsessive planning freak, its for practical reasons. We're having some fertility treatment at the moment so obviously i'm hoping to be pregnant for a large chunk of the run up to the wedding and didn't fancy trying to do both at once!

I'm Autumn 2014 and I've started planning little bits; Mr R has said he doesnt want to get involved until a bit closer to the time so he doesnt get bored of it, but still finds himself being dragged into it!

Advice: would you say 2 years is too early to send out STD's?

I would say it is far too early to send STDs, a lot can happen in 3 years, dates etc may change and people won't even have a 2014 diary yet LOL!

I have been engaged since February, we're having a spring 2013 wedding but we have booked absolutely nothing yet!

We know we're getting married in Italy but we couldn't decide between Rome and Amalfi coast. So the only actual planning we have done is to go to Rome to check out the wedding venues which in turn has made our mind up that Amalfi Coast is the way to go ? I don't think we'll be starting any actual booking or planning until the New Year TBH, we're not set on a date or even a month so if Positano town hall can fit us in somewhere between March and May 2013 then that's fine and I really don't mind where we have our party back home either.

My first time writing on here so hopefully it works!! my OH proposed in April this year. we have already booked the church, the reception venue, bought our marquees because it was cheaper!, getting the OH brother in law to make the cake - he offered and is very good cake maker, OHs brother in law's friend makes cake toppers on the side of her job so she's going to make a funny cake topper for us, bought the material to do drapping...if thats what you call it, for the marquee decorating. thats as far as we've got so far Smiley smile weddings not until 15th june 2013
