Is it going to be fancy dress ? it's my sons 18th on the 24th too

Food i normally do for my Elf party...

Bacon pastry wraps - puff pasty, bacon, cheese or tomato and cheese - really easy if you want to know how to do them give me a shout

iceland party platters - indian snack pack/chinese snack pack/mini desserts

    sausage rolls

crisps, i usually just get multipacks and put them in a big basket, less waste and people can actually see what they're getting iyswim

    Totillas

    mini cheddars

cherry/baby plum tomatos, sliced carrots, celery, dips

then we did a huge joint of beef and gammon, service it sliced with warm bread rolls - which actually turned out cheaper than the rest of the buffet Smiley winking

how old are your kids Lorna?

Will you be having lots of kids at the party? What ages?

How about apple bobbing, pumpkin decorating?

Last halloween we neamed all teh food loads of different things. So

rice was maggots and we cooked it with black food die

    Sausages were witches fingers

We had lycees made to look like eye balls with food die bobbing in all the drinks

Think we had pavlova or something like that withraspberry coulis which was of course blood

I made loads of cookies which i then iced to look like cobwebs

Everythign had its own little labels so that people got in the mood. We bobbed for apples, played find the mioce which had been hid around the house and just changed normal party game sinto a hallowwen theme. We painted light bulbs funny colours so that ther ewas no proper lighting around got loads of the fake cobweb stuff and sepnt a while pinning taht all over the place.

Oh yes dressing up will be compulsory!!!! the boys are 13, 12 and 7 there will probably end up being about 10 - 12 kids of similar ages there.

Tinks im loving your pics those lychees are freaking me out, we have so got to do that!

and the idea of keeping the food simple does seem to be the way to go, thanks all x

You've gotta do the frozen hand in the punch!!

We have a Halloween party every year, whole family loves dressing up! I made orange pumpkin jellies year before last with a ton of vodka in, went down a treat! Not very child friendly though lol.

Ooooh got me excited about halloween this year now! For the last 2 years I've been a zombie/monster bride with a big black 'wedding' dress lol.

Fill a glove - one without that gross powdery stuff inside - full of water and tie the end then pop it in the freezer in like a bowl of sand with a hand shape indented into it so that the shape of the watery glove is kept and doesn't look rubbish when 'set' ! God that's hard to word lol!

Once guests arrive, take the glove off and plonk it in a big bowl of punch (I did Cheeky vimto lol, but we were all adults) so that it doesn't melt too quick before they all see it.
