Any tips on keeping calm?

Cupcake26, 25 August, 2015 at 12:25 Posted on Planning 0 15

I feel okay at the moment but I feel the nerves are going to start creeping in soon!

Also I don't want to be crying down the aisle so how do I stop myself from doing that?

xXx

Me too. I keep thinking I will just think ok don't look at him, don't think about the wedding, don't listen to the music. WHAT! Noooo. Can't do that. I know I will cry. I'm not normally an overly emotional person but since the chemo I cry at EVERYTHING.

So nice hanky. Waterproof makeup. Is it possible to cry without the ugly face. I hope so. So if someone has good tips I'm here to listen to them too.

I'm going to do a first look pic an hour or so before the wedding and hope that it gets the crying out of the way while leaving time for a makeup touch up.

That sort of works for us as not marrying until half 4 and the only daylight is between 11-2, then I get an hour to retouch, calm down and have a relaxing bevy before leaving for the chapel.

    thats my plan.

Ha ha. What are we like ladies. I only have to hear my "walking down the aisle" song and I cry like a baby.

Oh sorry and I plan on having my witness primed to no hugs or slushy stuff on the day and tell jokes in the reindeer sleigh on route to the chapel.

    im not a pretty crier!

    Hi there

I too was so worried that I would cry so I deliberately chose an upbeat cheery song to walk down the aisle to.

I don't know if it helped as on the day I actually felt really calm and didn't feel I would well up at all. I was just caught up in the whole moment that I didn't even notice the music!

You may just surprise yourself that you will hold it together on the day. ?

I hope so. Maybe we should listen to the song we all chose 24/7 until we know it's the right one but are desensitized to it lol.

Jayne - that's exactly what my friend told me to do! So I become immune to it!

I have spent the last few weeks saying my vows to myself to try and desensitize myself to them. I cry like a little girl every time I think about saying "all that I am I give to you"!!!

I picked a song that wasn't weddingy but an instrumental version of something that means a lot to us after the whole cancer thing. Might have been a mistake. I'm going to putI it on the iPod on repeat before hand and hope that works.

Cry for the whole of December and be ok 6 Jan lol.

Big deep breaths - in through the nose, out through the mouth. Rescue remedy. Waterproof mascara. Someone on hand with a hankerchief.

I'm a very emotional person too, I cry at everything! But I can't see me doing a proper-big-ugly-open-mouth-wail ? at the altar! I'm not going to worry about the odd tear trickling down.

I'm another one that cries at everything - I cried at one of the meerkat adverts once. But I didn't cry on my wedding day. I felt myself starting to choke up a little during my vows, but I just reminded myself everyone was watching (at close quarters - the blacksmiths is a VERY small room) and did I want them to see me with eyeliner running down my face? No, I did not. And that shook me out of it. OMs said this to me before my wedding and I didn't really believe it, but it's true: you'll be so happy, you won't want to cry, you'll just smile all day!

It's those darn John Lewis Christmas ads that get me.

I also would crack when listening to our chosen wedding music within the first 3 notes.

On the day, I didn't cry during the ceremony. I was just so happy that it was the day.

If you're still not sure you can keep it together then practice breathing and like InkedDoll, think of your make up. Smiley winking
