Anybody else on a pre-wedding diet?

moomin8804, 28 January, 2009 at 16:56 Posted on Planning 0 38

Hi everyone!

Just wondering if anybody else was on a diet ☹️ in order to look as good as possible on their wedding day! I started mine on Monday and went to buy lots of healthy food from the supermarket and managed to avoid the biscuit aisle completely!!! Also, today i went to the gym which was surprisingly enjoyable!!!! I think i'm feeling so positive because i have a worthwile goal at the end!

I'm not on a diet as such, but I have cut out alcohol and am trying not to gain any weight! I think I'm pretty much back to where I should be now after Christmas, so I just need to be good until Nov.

Iain's trying to lose half a stone, but he's only put that on because he has a back problem and hasn't been able to go running. He'll be fine!

We do say that we're belly busters though!

I've lost a stone and I only have 3lbs more to lose to hit my target weight. Aiming to do that before next weekend as I have my first dress fitting then. I've been doing WW (or Fat Club as I call it) since October.

I ordered my dress a size smaller but I think there's a chance it will be too big now!

H2B is starting to panic though. His suit will fit fine, but I think he wants to lose his muffin-top before the honeymoon. He's trying to lose his via Wii Fit though!

I am! But its not just for the wedding. I had put nearly a stone on since last September (since I ordered my dress)

I take my scales to work every wednesday and my measuring tape every 3 weeks. There are 3 of us losing. We are on week 4 today and in total I have lost 5lb. 2 in off my belly and 1 inch off each thigh!!

I have achieved it through healthy eating, and gym 3 times a week.

Just half a stone to go now ?

I think the most important thing you need is willpower.

I usually struggle with diets but this time I'm becoming a diet/fitness freak. And if I don't lose what I want each week I look at where I might have gone wrong and where I can improve for the next week.

I think as well as weighing you should measure (sometimes you see more difference, especially if you are going to the gym too.

The other thing is to cut out any snacking between meals - even things like snack-a-jacks etc. They just make you want to eat more. And also have breakfast!

Hi moomin8804, wer'e getting married near to each other, I'm 1st August. I've been doing the Cambridge Diet for the past 2 weeks and have lost 12lbs in weight.

I'm really enjoying doing it too, plus I've ordered my wedding dress (should be in by the end of May) TWO sizes too small, so I've got to diet,. I'm a big girl, already lost around 3 stones last year doing W8 (similar to lighterlife), but I'm still a 22, but would really like to be a 16/18 by the wedding!

Cambridge consists of 3 meal replacements, plus a healthy salad each day (chicken, prawns, tuna etc).

Do you have a lot to lose or not? WW is really fab, as Slimming World too.

I am! But tbh I would have been even if we weren't getting married.... don;t have a target in mind just know that I needed to lose a few lbs and I've really noticed the difference. Got to my 'Silver 7' last week (why do they insist on calling it that? It doesn't make it any more exciting) but its weigh in day tomorrow again... eek.

Zippy - exactly where are you losing these inches from? There is NOTHING of you already.

Glad i'm not the only one that's depriving myself then ? I'm a size 12 but would really like to be a size 10 on my wedding day! I'm going to do it through eating more healthy food instead of eating what i fancy which i have been doing for a few months now, and regular gym sessions, more walking etc. I weighed myself at the gym today and wasn't very impressed with what numbers i saw, so i'm getting positive and doing something about it!

Mrs K the cambridge diet does sound interesting! I'm curious now!

I hope all of you reach your target weights and i know we will all look fab in our wedding dresses!!!!

I am! But made the rookie mistake of not weighing myself first so not sure if I've lost weight. I was doing 1000 kcals a day last week but was a bit hungry so am now about 1500 a day. Trouble it cos I work away during the week I'm really good but when I get home OH is such a bad influence and end up undoing all my bad work. Going to be really good this weekend, I promise!

I'm a size 21 (Yes I know that's not a size) my 22 trousers are too big, and 20 just a bit too small and I want to get down to a size sixteen preferably for the wedding which is 7 months. Not sure if that's doable, but I just want to look better in my dress whatever.

Thanks. You can do SW online, you don't have to go to the meetings. I went to the gym for an hour twice a week. Cardio stuff (like treadmill, cross trainer, bike), rower, some weights, pull ups and dips, lunges, press-ups, planks.

I'm doing OK on the willpower front at the mo...lost 5lbs in the last 2 weeks, and I'm desperate to lose weight, not just for the wedding but generally as I've put about 4 stone on in the last 3 years!

I just keep talking to myself now and asking myself..."Do you REALLY want to eat that Kitkat???!!" Problem is, its usually Yes!! ?

I'm another one doing Weight Watchers (and I also call it Fat Club! ?)

Since I moved in with OH about 2 and a half years ago I have put on 3 STONE ? I know I know, it's terrible. I think it was because I just didn't have a clue about cooking healthily or portion sizes, etc etc, plus I'd "got comfortable" if you know what I mean, no excuse though I know. I've gone from a size 10-12 to a 16 and just feel awful really. The worst thing about it is that I started WW at the end of 2007 and by summer last year I was 22lbs lighter and feeling much better. I have since put a stone back on and am really frustrated that I've undone most of my good work just like that. So am back on it again, lost 2lbs last week and am feeling more focused than ever. Just really worried that I'll get complacent again...I have no reason to though because it's not like I'm happy with my body as it is! Just need to remember this awful self-consciousness, I'm never like this at my normal weight.

Another thing that makes it worse is OH is 6 foot and only 11 stone 6, he has an amazing body and he does eat a lot. People keep telling me "It will catch up with him in his 30's" but that does not make me feel better!! ?

Well done everyone who is losing, oh and can I say - Melancholie - I have seen your pics before and what you did, and how quickly you did it, is just amazing. You are an inspiration!

Yes I am too. Started being good from the 5th Jan but only weighrd myself for the first time on the 13th, so don't know how I got on the first week. In the past two weeks I've lost 3 lbs. Not following a diet as such, just cutting out all the crap. Basically eating my three meals a day and nothing in between except some fruit. I also recommend quorn and other similar meat free products! Haven't done too well on the exercise front so far, still no motivation on that front although I have been for a couple of long walks. I'm the heaviest I've ever been, about a size 18 now, I'd quite happily go back to a 14 or thereabouts. Just going to try and take it slowly and see how I get on. Must find motivation to do more exercise!!

I am...only 4 months to go (just under). I've lost a stone since November and hope to be a size 10/12 on the wedding day...another half stone to lose so have stepped up the pace with a personal trainer twice a week...can't believe I pay the guy money to torture me for two hours!! H2B has just ordered a Chinese takeaway and I've been good and ordered just chicken and rice...well within my Weight Watchers Points allowance. I do WW online only and find it really motivates me to stay with my 20pts daily allowance...not having lots of wine is a killer though!! Good luck to everyone on a mission..it's not easy but sure the results will be worth it!

Me too! just been to the gym and for a swim, not following any diet in particular but cutting out the crap, been pretty bad today right enough but a friend was down to visit so it's allowed.

i HATE exercise but have been forcing myself to go the gym for a couple of weeks now and can i just say i'm really enjoying it! i'm a 14 at the moment, would like to be a 12 so nothing to drastic, i'm 5'10 so dont suit being anything less. ( or so i keep telling myself, think im just too lazy to attempt to lose anymore!)

    Good luck everyone x

It makes it all the more annoying doesn't it! Although he's yummy to look at, it's very annoying that he can eat whatever he wants to stay that way ? ?
