Anybody not having first dance and speeches

bingowings, 28 August, 2011 at 21:25 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi

Myself and H2B are pretty shy and low key people. We hate lots of attention and have decided not to have a first dance or speeches. As the day reception is just in a restaurant which will still be open to the public, I dont envisage it being a problem. What does everybody else think? Did you do the same?

Thanks Smiley smile

    Me!

We really don't want anything like that, our reception is in a gastro pub who have let us book the whole place out but it's not really a speeches and dancing kind of place.

We're having speeches but the thought of dancing together with everyone staring at us freaks me out!?

Sadly we're having both - I was highly tempted to avoid the first dance, given my usual ability to remain co-ordinated I'm expecting to end up on my behind or face on the way down the aisle, so why add to the probabilities. OH is adament that it's a "cop out" not to - and he is having little enough imput that I can't really over ride him on this. He's chosen the music, but we might just need dance lessons between now and them!

As for speeches, I'm not bothered about his, but Best Man and my dad could be difficult...
