Anybody using/ used Hothorpe Hall in Leicestershire?

Jelly_Bean, 18 January, 2010 at 12:34 Posted on Planning 0 1

So we think we've picked a venue - Hothorpe Hall in Leicestershire - and was just wondering if anyone else was using it, or has been there for a wedding or anything? We went to see it a few days ago and I completely fell in love with it, it's a gorgeous building, beautiful grounds, but it's quite relaxed inside if that makes sense! Anyway, there were a couple of rooms that we couldn't see because there were conferences going on, so they've let us book a provisional date until their wedding showcase on 31st jan when we can make a final decision....so unofficially I'm getting married on 26th August 2011! So excited! However, we have got a couple more venues to look at this week, so I'm trying to keep an open mind, so any feedback from hitchers would be really useful...thanks!

    Hi,

We fell in love with Hothorpe hall and are booked for the 20th August 2011. I have a friend she was bridesmade last summer at a wedding there and she said it was very good. I know exactly what you mean when you say the venue is relaxed inside, I didnt want to be anywhere where it was pretentious, or stuffy. Majority of wedding suppliers who have asked where we are wedding, have always commented highly, 'they cant do enough for you on the day' 'very friendly' 'organised' and genuinely a lovely place to hold a wedding. I will be attending the 31st for a look round again with my mum as only myself and h2b have been.

This is the only venue that we visited we found it on line and wanted it straight away. When we announced our engagement another couple we know who were not engaged at the time, the 'bride to be' was very put out that we had booked this place as this is where she has wanted her wedding all her life apparantly!!!!

I can wait to get married there, we are having civil ceremony and chapel blessing what about you?

I am also using a florist who works in the area and is used to venue. The photographer we have chosen is also used to working with this venue.

Good luck with your decision and very best wishes on you engagement.

Hi, and thanks for the reply Smiley smile And congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

That's really reassuring to know that Hothorpe are so highly thought of in the wedding supplier community, and that your friend had a positive experience at the wedding she attended - I don't know anyone who's ever been there so this sort of feedback is really useful, thank you!

If we do decide to get married here we're just having the civil ceremony, although we do want some photos in the chapel as we think it's absolutely gorgeous. However, at the moment we're a bit torn as we've found another venue that we like (H2B likes both about equally whereas I do like Hothorpe that little bit more) which as a couple of thousand cheaper, so we're a bit unsure what to go. I'm sure the showcase on Sunday will be helpful though as it will give us a real idea of what our wedding could look like - how exciting!

Anyway, thanks for the feedback, and I hope you enjoy the showcase too!
