Sherrie/IQ - please tell me if this is classed as advertising. I don't think it is being's I've not got a business to advertise yet but I'll happily remove it if you'd prefer.

Right - I've been trying to turn my cake making into a 'proper' business for nearly two years now but have been waiting for our kitchen to be completely finished so it can be inspected. We are nearly there now so I'm starting to get my backside into gear in terms of doing the admin side. I have a big problem though - I can't settle on a business name.

You ladies are just the market I'll be aiming for so I'm thinking that you might be the best people to ask about names. What makes you drawn to a company? What makes you trust them? etc,

The things I'm trying to portray are - very reliable, range of cakes from traditional to novelty, flexible, good value but not cheap, professional. We'll also be doing cookies and cupcakes. I know I don't want my name to be included but other than that I'm fairly flexible. My thoughts have included 'Say It With Sugar', 'Midlands Cake Studio' and 'Ivory Tower Cakes' but none have seemed perfect.

So I'm after some suggestions for a company name. I know that you don't all have time to sit around thinking of names for me so I was thinking that I could offer a bit of an incentive. If you suggest the name that I choose then I will make a cake for you up to the value of £150 (or give a £150 discount on a larger order). The cake can be for your wedding, a birthday or just because!

If it helps, these are just a few photos of the different types of cake I can do:

(I have to point out that Buzz is cake as well as the cake he's standing on)

Hope somebody can help!

If I knew you were coming I'd have baked a cake...

long winded though, imagine saying that when you answer the phone!

    Big Day Bakes

    Cake-a-licious

    Cakey-wakey

Pat-a-cake (as in the nursery rhyme)

(lots of hyphens in mine for some reason!)

There are some brilliant ideas here. Quite a lot of the ones I've looked at so far are already in existence though ☹️ There are still some good possibilities I'm considering.

    The Midlands Cakery?

Just my personal opinion, but I think if you go too pun-like, you may not be portraying the professionalism that you want to; I would perceive it as being cheaper. Lovely cakes btw, making me really hungry now lol

Wow you are extremely talented - so jealous! I personally think you don't lose any professionalism by using a quirky name because you do make novelty items. It would be different if you were trying to come up with a name for an accountancy firm or something!! Here are my offerings: The Cookie Cutter, Sugar & Ice, Let them eat cake, Cakey-wakey, Purple pixie's crafty cakes, Occasion cakes & cookies

I'm on the Leics/Notss/Derby border and am really lucky to be only 10 mins from the M1 and M42 so the west midlands is only half an hour away too.

Great ideas ! I can't improve ! But my gut feeling would be to keep the word cake in as if you set up a website you are more easily found on google. Just a thought.

    Iced Iced baby!;or

    Shed A Tier; or

    I Do......Cake; or

    Caked in Flour; or

A Bit of Crumpet; (Hmmmm, not really a cake); or

Go for the Prince approach and just a have a symbol.....

These are my OH's suggestions so I apologise.
