Anyone been divorced and remarrying in church?

knickers_twickers, 27 August, 2009 at 19:01 Posted on Planning 0 5

Anyone about?

I know nothing about it and I'm panicking working myself up about things.

Just wondering if anyone could help me in terms of explaining the process etc.

Can explain my situation if anyone is about who can help.

Nikki (usually a BTer but now engaged!)

xx

Hello and congratulations! I saw your announcement on BT ?

I don't know about the catholic church, but my H was a divorcee and we recently got married in Church of England! All the priest asked was to see his decree absolut and that was it!

    Thanks moomin!

It is a C of E church anyway and the same one that T is being christened in in a couple of weeks time too.

Did you have to show the absolute before they would let you book the wedding? I've been reading about and as it's very nearly there (date is set to get the nisi on 15th so I know that the absolute will follow 6 weeks after and in plenty of time for the wedding next Sept) it seems that they should let us book the date etc and ask to see it nearer the time?

    Just wanted to check though.

I'm scared they will say no and I'll have to justify the mistakes I made when I was younger. We both really want to get married in church.

    xx

Me and h2b are getting married in church, we had to show his divorce before booking the wedding but they let us provisionally book. i do think it depend on the vicar, some dont care some do but if your child is getting christened there then you obviously already know him so u will be fine x

Our vicar was dead relaxed about it all. We booked the wedding and he told us to drop in with the decree absolute anytime after that!!!

As Futuremrsclarke says, it really does depend on the vicar!

Yep,another one who thinks it depends on the vicar!

Although to add to the shame factor, the vicar is also my FIL2B ?

To be fair,he was very relaxed about the whole thing, just asked why I got divorced (he cheated and hit me),and asked to see my decree absolute and that was it!

He said he has refused a woman in the past who had been married 3 times, but that it really depended on the circumstances.

    Hope that helps!
