LilMissBusyBride, 3 January, 2013 at 12:53 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi all,

This is a post for the OMs really. Just wondering if anyone has been to Bali or Singapore and has any recommendations for hotels etc as a bit overwhelmed and stuck!

Thanks in advance

Marina Bay Sands in S'pore, simply because of the scary view from the pool :p Only hotel I've been to in Bali is Ritz, definitely an ideal honeymoon location. I was possibly the only hotel guest NOT on a honeymoon rofl

We went on holiday there last year (not honeymoon obviously!).

Singapore we stayed with a friend so can't help there.

In Bali, we stayed at Uma Sapna in Seminyak and it was amazing.

    Private pool

    Lounge area

Have been to both but didn't think any of the hotels we stayed in were much to rave about, we will be staying at Marina bay sands hotel in Singapore this time simply for the awesome infinity pool. Have you checked out Trip Advisor they rank all hotel in order of review rating.

Funky I saw your post the other day...kinda ruining my perserverence that the Singapore hotel should be functional with the luxuring being more in Bali! Thanks for all the suggestions. Tripadvisor has been my friend but still so many even rated high. I will keep you posted xxx

We did Singapore/Bali/Malaysia for our honeymoon.

I have waxed lyrical about it all over and over so won't bore people again.

Singapore: Traders, nice but "functional", near Orchard Road for shopping and drinking.

Bali: The Legian in Seminyak, it speaks for itself. https://www.ghmhotels.com/en/ By far the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Just unbelievable.

Malaysia Cameron Highlands: Cameron Highlands Resort, lush, colonial beauty, all dark wood and pianos, private fireside dining, spa, etc. https://www.cameronhighlandsresort.com/

Malaysia KL: Traders, nicer than the Singapore one, great location, unbelievable view of the Petronas Towers and fab roof bar.

Didnt go to either for a honeymoon, but have been to Singapore many times. Each time I go, its getting more expensive.

Depends what sort of honeymoon you are looking for? Beach, sun, relaxing, then I'd choose Bali. If you prefer cities, sightseeing & shopping, then choose Singapore.

I think your money will go farther in Bali & you'd get a more relaxing, luxurious hotel/resort there. I'd avoid Kuta beach though unless you want clubs & a party atmosphere similar to Ibiza.

I thought of you Footlong when I read this thread earlier your Bali hotel looked amazing!

Just another bit of advice regarding Bali I would steer clear of staying in Kuta its reminded me of a 18Smiley heart0 resort for ozzies (unless you like that sort of thing of course, I do but wouldn't want it on my honeymoon)

Seminyak or Ubud are worth considering.

Also we hired a private car and driver who was awesome to do a tour of the island, Dean was very reasonable http://baliwithdean.blogspot.co.uk/

Not been yet, but we are going to the Maldives and Singapore for our honeymoon and also spending the time in Singapore at the Marina Bay Sands resort. I went years ago with family but this hotel was not built then but we cannot wait to go for the rooftop swimming pool! Smiley smile

Just a little update for all those that helped!

We have now booked our flights so definitely going! Still trying to convince my partner about the Singapore hotel with a rooftop pool! Plus that we neeeed our own pool by the beach in Bali! But we have our jungle/forest hotel booked in Bali and pic below! Excited! (Ps I am joking about the 'need' in case anyone was thinking I was slightly deluded!)

    View in our room!!!

    Hello,

I lived and went to school in Singapore and my parents have recently retired from living out there, so I do know it quite well. I've also been on holiday to Bali several times. I would suggest that Singapore is a great 'stop over' on your way to bali, but you need probably no more than 3 nights before heading off to your luxury beach destination.

The main shopping road in Singapore is called Orchard Road, so any of the hotels around that area will be lovely. The Marriott hotel which is really central would be good, but you also have the Mandarin Oriental, the Four Season and the Ritz Carlton, all of which would be amazing for your first few nights. The Shangri-la is also pretty special. You must also go to Raffles (which is a hotel) for a Singapore Sling.

Bali is amazing and is a really good place to relax. Personally I would say avoid staying Kuta (but maybe go for a day trip), and head out to an area called Seminyak. I would recommend The Oberoi or the Anantara. Nusa Dua is also a good area to stay. You'll have an amazing time!!

    Fran
