Anyone been to one of these?

happydobby, 17 March, 2011 at 16:06 Posted on Planning 0 5

I've just been googling sample sales for my dress and found a weddding sale website that was advertising a three day sale next week in different cities; I'm interested in Birmingham but was wondering if anyone has been to one of these sales? Anyone found a bargain? I want to know if it's worth going to if I'm going to drive down just to visit the sale for the day! The website is www.theweddingsale.com , not sure who's organising the sales :/

I got my dress at one of these - it was at the Berketex store but I know there are dedicated places that just have sale stuff. I'd go with an open mind, a lot of the dresses are quite grubby etc, and hardly any of them were £99 (the 'from £99' is what drew me in!) but I managed to find my dress and at a great price. Basically when I went, they give you 5 coloured pegs to stick on dresses you'd like to try from the sale rails, you try them on and if you decide to buy you take it home there and then!

    Good luck

Oh it's at Berketex? My sister got her dress from there, they were really nice. My budget is about £400 stretching to £600 if I find something I love, is this manageable do you think at one of these sales? I think I would actually prefer to take my dress home anyway, maybe I'm weird but I find it reassuring that it's in my house ready to be worn, rather than in a shop. (also I can take it out and stare lovingly at it whenever I want!)

It depends what you want really - if you've got your heart set on something then chances are you'll be disappointed - I looked at the price tags first and then the dresses so I knew I wouldn't fall in love with something I just couldn't have. I'd say go along with an open mind and don't be dead set on getting something in case you don't find the right thing, but if you do find it it makes it so much more exciting, it's like finding treasure or something LOL

Have a great time, I loved it x

Ha ha I like the idea of making it the bridal form of treasure hunting! Let's hope I find some! Yeah I think I will check the price tag before I have a good look at it, as I said if I really fell in love with something I have a bit of a financial buffer at the ready, hopefull I won't have to use it! thanks for all your advice, I'm going to register now! xxx

I got mine from the Confetti and Lace sale in London a couple of months ago. Yes some of the dresses are grubby and the shopping experience isn't all quiet and relaxing with champagne and people helping you in and out of dresses. But if you got with an open mind and about £500 you can find a good bargain. I bought my Alfred Sung dress from there. It was totally different from what I was looking for, fits perfectly and was a bargain at £395! Sooooo happy! ?
