Anyone done email save the dates?

miniloopie, 22 April, 2012 at 16:04 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hello everyone,

Just wondered if anyone else had sent out save the dates via email - in a bid to save money we've decided not to send actual cards out but we still need to let friends/family know the date/place etc.

Any ideas much appreciated!!

My brother wrote save the date and the date of their wedding and the wedding of x and x. Took photos of them holding each word and put it in a photo slide show and emailed that to everyone!

That's a lovely idea! Thank you... I could get our kids to hold a message to send to everyone, there's a thought...

I'm going to, again it's to cut costs. I was going to create it in word using a picture of the two of us and keep the text short and simple, then save it as a PDF and email it aroundx

We're doing Paperless Post. They look great, and they have some free ones. I sort of cheated the system and invited 10 friends to join up with them, so I got 100 free coins to use on non-free ones.

Here's the preview of ours, which is entirely free:

For our actual wedding day, we only sent out invitations and nothing else as it is just family. We didn't do rsvp cards, just wrote on the invite for guests to email me back.

For our post-wedding celebration party for friends, we (or should I say I seeing as OH did nothing!) just sent out an email STD message with no other details initially as we hadn't confirmed the venue but knew the date. Then followed it up with another email with venue details and accommodation nearby in case anyone wanted to stay over. And then sent out proper invites. We actually forgot to put rsvp details on this so i had to send yet another email asking everyone to get back to me, oops! No-one minds as this is just a very relaxed party anyway. An excuse to wear our wedding outfits again!

    Try Pingg.com

They have lots of free e-invitations, save the date cards etc. I used them when I was a wedding planner for a couple who had family and friends coming from overseas. A very large number of them are free and you can manage your invitations etc and keep track of attendees.

They have lots of nice designs and you can even add your own images to some of them.

    Good Luck

We sent a STD text. Took a photo of our date spelt out in natural found objects eg leaves, acorns etc at the Sculpture Park where we're getting married and sent it with a little poem I made up. Could have emailed if I'd thought about it!
