I am doing a no carb diet (cutting out bread, potato, rice and pasta) Easier than atkins which makes you really moody and makes you smell.

I know people that have done atkins and they stank, weird meat smell. Have you looked at the Dukan diet which is based on the no carb idea but reintroduces carbs slowly??

I've done it, found it really hard going, but that was a long time ago.

I've since done the South Beach diet, which is also a no carb diet, for the first two-three weeks you cut out carbs and sugar, but the emphasis is on lean protein and lots of vege and water. It's really strict in that sugar from fruit, certain vege, some yoghurts etc etc aren't allowed.

Then after that stage, you start to reintroduce carbs, but healthier ones, like brown rice/pasta etc.

I've managed to lose between 4-8lbs in the first two weeks out of the 3 times that I've done it, works really well and makes me so much less bloated. It is hard, and if you fall off the band wagon you do lose a lot less and you put the weight back on after if you go straight back to the carbs.

But in total since this time last year, I've lost 1 st 3lbs and kept it off. I find the two weeks of no carbs really kick starts my metabolism, right now I'm eating more or less normally, with sugar and carbs.

I plan on doing this a 2-3 more times in the next 6 months or so, to help me get down to almost my goal weight.

I have done it ages ago but stopped as fel really unhealthy and was craving fruit I didnt lose much weight and refuse to believe that a diet that advocates as a snack cheese wrapped in bacon and deep fried can be in any way healthy for you

My friend lost loads of weight by eating carbs at lunch and then being carb free for the rest of the day. Obviously you have to eat healthily as well!

    Wss!!

Carbs are essential for your diet - just stick to brown rice/bread/pasta and plently of fresh fruit, veg, lean meat/fish etc and you'll loose weight regardless of the name you want to tag to the 'diet'!! I have cut out crap (eg crisps, chocolate, biscuits etc) and cut down on bread (soup or salad or sushi for lunch) made sure i have muesli and fruit with skimmed milk for brekkie every day and then have a healthy supper of meat/fish, veg or salad, with brown rice or pasta etc and then fruit for pud. I have also cut back on alcohol and take-aways! I do have the odd treat now and then but I was a size 14 and am now a 8/10 (depending on where i shop!) and I have lost over 2 1/2 stone in the last 5 months.

It isnt a quick fix, but a change in mental attitude/outlook on food... believe me its been hard at times but it truly wont stay off if you do a fad diet. Healthy eating is the way to go...

Edited to add that I snack on oatcakes or dried fruit and nuts or munchy seeds - I also get a GRAZE box too (google them, they are fab!).

It's funny you should say that, but that is pretty much how I have been eating since the weekend (only because it has worked out that way than a conscious decision to eat like that!) & since Saturday I have lost 4lbs. I have done Dukan with success but I do find it hard as I get up very early in the morning to ride my horses & need my carbs to keep me going through the day while I look after my son. I might keep doing the no carbs after 2pm approach now!

Me and H2b started no carbs last week, i have given up but he is still going for it, hes living on meat, salad and smoothies and is slightly grumpy at the moment!!!

I am now just low carbs but avoiding carbs at dinner time as others have said. I do feel better cutting them down, less bloated etc, but feel that you do need some carbs in your diet.

I use to snack all day so just trying my best to diet and exercise as much as i can for two weeks till the wedding, even if i put some back on after im not too bothered!!
