Anyone else feeling like this?

claire_91, 9 December, 2013 at 19:17 Posted on Planning 0 14

I really feel like I've lost interest in our wedding completely. It feels like I've been planning it for so long that all the fun and specialness has gone from it. It's nearly two years now since we got engaged and we still have a way to go. I just want to be married now and not have the hassle of everything.

Anyone feel like this or does anyone have any tips that may get me interested again?

I think most brides (and grooms?) feel how you do at some point.

I really felt like that up until the 6montha to go stage. Then I did a bit more, now I feel like I'm waiting around again.

It'll come & go in waves... Just enjoy the less hectic times when you have them!

I could have written this myself today! I'm going through a 'fed up stage' but I think I'm generally feeling like that about a lot of things and have a lot on at the moment so that's probably why. Pugsley is right, it comes in waves and I think it 's only natural when you're planning something for so long. Take a break and come back to it. Or do what I do and avoid any decision with your own wedding and just spend all your time on hitched talking about other people's!

I agree -everyone gets a bit like this. It's a lot of hard work over quite a prolonged period of time for you. You'll get more excited again next time there's something big to choose and as it gets closer.

It's been a year since we got engaged and I am now wishing Christmas would just hurry up! Bring on march! ... It's only recently I am getting small butterflies develop in my stomach as it will be here around 14 Saturdays time! How scary does that sound! Get a countdown on your phone, its scary how time has flown. Do little bits here and there so the magic and planning doesn't stop :-) chin up ladies, we are getting married!!!!!! Xxx

Everyone around me is so excited and I have no interest at all. The church and venue are booked and I still sit there wishing I was getting married in a registry office with just the parents.

Keep your heads up girls, it's a journey not a destination, but you'll get, maybe have a bit more champagne on the way?! Smiley winking

Totally normal to feel that way, no matter how long you've got between getting engaged and the wedding. We only had 10 months but I know I went through phases of not even thinking about any wedding planning bits. You wouldn't start planning and getting excited for Christmas in January would you?! Enjoy the quiet time, occupy yourself with whatever you enjoy doing.

Yeah, this is not the first time it has been posted. It is also known as "wedding blues" I believe, hehe.

What do you have on your to-do list still to go? Maybe picking an item to get started might get you going with the excitement again?

Or just come over hitched more often, help with other brides, that usually gets me going!

Completely normal from what I've gathered. It happened to me too. Even hitting the year mark didn't spur me into action. I didn't look at hitched for weeks and didn't buy anything for the wedding. Both of which were obsessive behaviours before.

My enthusiasm is back though, I'm sure you will get yours back too. It just seems like such a long run up and a lot of things to think about you can over do it a bit and lose interest.

Thank you everyone. I plugged away at a few emails and things to suppliers last night but it's not really doing the trick. Hopefully I will try my dress on again in the next couple of weeks which should help. I've not tried it on when it actually fits yet so it would be lovely to get more of an idea of how it will look on me and get the excitement going again.

Yep l have felt like that a lot! As other people have said then l think it is very normal. It hasn't helped that l have had a very busy year with buying a house, moving, finishing my course, starting a new job etc. So it has been an effort fitting it around everything else.
