Anyone else getting married in the Richmond area?

Bride2012, 6 December, 2010 at 12:37 Posted on Planning 0 6

We are hoping to get married in the richmond area of surrey and so far are not having much luck in finding a suitable venue as a lot of venues specify minimum numbers or spend or are just too expensive for us!

So far we have viewed the Richmond Hill Hotel which was nice but we didn't come out of there feeling like it was "the one" probably because there is no grounds. We are going to view Lensbury in Teddington in a couple of weeks so hopeful about that one.

Just wondered if there is anyone else getting married in this area and got any great venues to recommend?

Thanks

Michelle

Here is a list of all the places you can get married in the Richmond area.

Have you thought about York House or Orleans?

Kew & Richmond park weddings may be pricey...but gorgeous!

    Hi Michelle.

Try Pembrooke Lodge or bank of England sports centre. I have also been to a few gorgeous weddings at Kew gardens, and they have a variety of rooms for different budgets and numbers of guests...

Chiswick House and Gardens have a few options including a marquee too.

If you are trying to think out of the box, you could look to contact local surrey farmers to see whether they would hire some land, and you could hire your own marquee and have control over all aspects of the wedding from venue to catering and wine - this can be cheaper - but takes a lot of planning. (I went for this option in a meadow... and it was great fun!) This would require you to have the ceremony in sme licensed premises first (either church / registry office...)

When looking for land for a marquee, I also had an offer to hire a rugby club ground and also a local cricket club ground. Schools with large sports pavillions can sometimes oblige too!

How many guests do you have and how far would you look outside Richmond?

    Good luck!

Also have a look on the venues on the hitched forum, there are a few on there. Just depends on what you are looking for really.

How about Kingston or it that too far? We are getting married at the Lovekyn Chapel followed Burhill Golf Club.. Burhill might be too far out but some of the suggestions above closer to home might be better!

    :-)

Heyyyy wow i haven't been on here for ages, long honeymoon new job etc. k well i got married at Kew Gardens - absolutely gorgeous. Pembroke Lodge is another option, the list from tahdah is v useful. How about one of the National Trust properties? Ham House and Osterley Park are not far.

Syon Park isn't too far from Richmond? Hampton Court Palace also does weddings... though i think all these are a bit pricey. can't think of anywhere else, the hotels? bingham and petersham and richmond gate? Good luck!
