Anyone else on a weight loss mission?

emabee, 13 June, 2014 at 07:13 Posted on Planning 0 53

So I've lost a total of 24.5lb in the last year and I'm desperate to shift another 14lb before the wedding and have recently joined Slimming World which is going well. My issue is, I have to leave things like buying underwear, honeymoon outfits and dress fittings until the last minute because I don't know what size I'll be in 2 months' time but by then I might not be able to get what I want!

Anyone else in a similar situation?

Hiya, yes I'm in a similar situation. I've lost 23.5 pounds since October using slim fast (naff diet, don't bother) and slimming world (BEST diet I've ever been on). I have just under 10 months before the big day and it's killing me not buying underwear and thing now, so you must find it incredibly hard. I've got another 15.5 pounds until I'm at goal weight.

Lol - yes - me too. Not doing anything like Slimming World though - just doing it myself. Habe lost about 9lbs and want to loae at least 14lb more. Really need to have done it my January when my dress comes in and then level off. I'm 10 1/2 stone atm and would like to get to 9 1/2 or even 9. Should be doable - but I need butt kicking lol.

And my OH needs butt kicking to stop giving me stuff (I can't say no :/). I struggle to get exercise in because of his shifts. He manages to get loads in because he goes out for stupid 100 mile bike rides while I'm at work. Smiley sad

Yep! Well I was. I have lost 24 pounds since 1 January just by calorie counting. I have got my dress now so have to maintain this exact weight! I am happy though as gone from a tight 12 to a 10 yay!

Yeah, me too. I've lost 20lbs, but would like to lose the same again - I've been delaying buying stuff like underwear for that reason, but don't wanna leave it too late, especially as Christmas is right before ours!

Yes, have lost 20lbs on slimming world and today started 30 day shred to get rid of my wobbly bits. I ordered my dress in October before I started Slimming world and it was tight, tried it in March and its too big but they've told me they can take it down 3 sizes. Have about another stone to lose to get me to a size 12 before my dress fittings in September.

September will mark 2 months to the wedding and the dress shop has said I should not lose any more weight after that.

You are all doing so well!! Ive lost 7lbs since last year and doing a different diet every week! Ive started exercising everyday now but i stopped smoking a year ago and think i crave that sweet something on a night.

It seems like ive been dieting forever but i lose 2lb but 1 on its just a constant struggle between thinking "sod it this is who i am and he met me like this! why change just for 1 day! " to ........ " This is the biggest day of your life stop being a fat cow and lose some weight!"

As if i dont have enough to stress about! ?☹️

I haven't but my H2B has lost three stone! He wasn't overly big but wanted to lose weight so he looks good in his suit and the photos. He has been going to the gym five times a week and looks great!

Yes, I've lost 38lb in two years, since getting engaged in Feb this year I've been trying to get going again as I want to loose another 25lb before the wedding next July. I have seen so many nice undies but similarly, I can't buy them yet! Particularly gutting when I found lovely wedding undies in Tesco for a tenner!

Wow, sounds like you are all doing really well ladies (and men lol)

I started dieting in January and so far I've lost 2 and a half stone. I still want to loose another 2 so I'm ploughing on. Not getting married till next September so have plenty of time but I'm itching to get my dress. It's a custom made to my measurements so it's pointless doing anything about it yet.

Going to start swimming again next week. Keep it up guys xx

I'm 89lbs down and only 3lbs to go, but losing that last little bit is the hardest thing! This photo was my motivation to lose the weight (I weighed 16st 3lbs at the time!)

    :
Makes me cringe to look back on - but I think with such a small amount of weight left to lose I can actually go and buy pretty things if I want to!

Seriously though, that last few pounds just will not shift. I've been stuck here for a good month or two - any ideas?

I'm not on a weight loss mission per se. I haven't weighed myself in years and don't intend to. Numbers on a scale are meaningless to me, I go by how fit I am and body measurements.

Saying this, I do plan to lose inches, only because I know I'm bigger than I was and I want to work hard to get to a size I'm happy with and then stick there. I've upped my fitness, I do a variety of different exercises at least three-four times a week, I walk at least a mile a day and I'm using the MyFitnessPal app to track my exercise and healthy eating regime and I have noticed muscle mass improvement and just general stamina and fitness improvement. I feel like I'm more toned and healthy.

I don't diet, I just eat well. Plenty of fruit, vegetables, protein and good fats, like nuts & avocado. Saying all fats are bad for you is a myth. I don't disallow myself a treat if I want it. I eat what I want but in moderation, which I think is always the key. Carbs are good for you too. I love pasta & rice, I just don't eat it every day.

I'm going to continue my regime and if I fit into a smaller dress come next year, well awesome, but I'm not going to torture myself with fad diets and I'm not going to weigh myself. Ever.

Totally!! This post screamed at me!! I still have a year to go but once I get my mind on something I judt go for it straight away. Have gone from 10 stone 9 to 10 stone in 6 weeks, by joining my local gym which does brilliant exercise classes - I go spinning, zumba, body attack, body pump, legs bums and tums, aqua classes after work. Love it!!! 1 more stone to go, ive never been able to get under 10 stone !!!!

That's a fab weight loss and I know how hard it is. I've been going to Slimming World for the last 3 1/2 years and have lost 77lbs so far. I'd still like to lose another stone or so but not until after the wedding now. My weight loss really slowed down last year and so I changed my diet a bit - I'd got into so many bad habits with SW such as Friday-Sunday off the plan and I couldn't get out of them. So now I still go and get weighed every week but I don't do the SW plan, I do low calorie instead Sunday - Thursday, along with the gym and it is working loads better for me. I'm at the point now where although I still need to lose a bit more, I'm so much happier than I was when I started that there's no real rush. I'm loads fitter than I was a few years ago and that's what matters really.

For everyone losing weight for the wedding - don't stress too much about it. Your OH's are marrying you for who you are and once you get in your dress on the big day you'll all look and feel so good that you probably won't worry about the odd few pounds that yo didn't lose!

    Hi ladies

I'm getting married in August 2015 and have already ordered my dress but my waist is currently 1.5inches too big for it :-(. I had a baby 6 months ago and have another 1 and a half stone to lose to get back to my pre-baby weight.

debating weather to try Slimming World. I've lost a stone on ww but I'm bored of it now so have been trying to do some exercise and watch my portion sizes but my weight isn't changing :-(

i know I prob won't have my first fitting until June next year but I keep having a night, are that the dress is too small eeeeeek

    Hi ladies,

Still on the mission - 2 year anniversary just passed of calorie counting and past 19 months trying to maintain my 41lb weight loss (nearly 3 stone) at 5ft 3

I started losing weight before I got engaged and now I have my dress (I have flashed before if you fancy a peek) I am determined to continue and "work it" - put it this way 2 years and 1 month ago I never would have thought I'd have a dress like that!!

    We can do it!! Xx

Well done to everyone on this thread by the way! You've all done really well!

I bought a cross-trainer in December and started to try and fitter first. My only exercise was my daily dog walk, but my body was obviously used to that... then in April, because I was struggling to really lose anything I did a thing called Clean 9, by Forever products. Anyway it's a 9 day detox, you are giving a pack with all your shakes, and potions and I lost 1 stone 1lb in 9 days and loads of inches off my arms, waist, hips and legs. I have since lost another 3lb (I have been on holiday in between) but it has really kick started me to get going.

I feel so much better in myself and would definitely recommend the clean 9, although it is pretty intense and can be hard, it is definitely worth it.

Oh, and I have stopped smoking, 6 weeks smoke free so far, and I did that using the Allen Carr EASYWAY To Stop Smoking book.... absolutely BRILLIANT, no will power needed whatso ever, been the easiest thing I have ever done and I cannot believe I didnt do it sooner! Note: My H2B, Mum, Cousin and one of my good friends in on her second week smoke free from reading the book! Smiley smile

I re-joined slimming world last weekend- target is to loose just under two stone.

I did slimming world a few years ago and was great then got settled with the OH and the weight slowly but surely crept back on. i've been doing it on and off, at home but i need the motivation of paying for class to stick at it. anyway signed up for 3 months and if i loose 2lbs a week i'll do it in that time!

I really recommend slimming world to anyone who wants a diet that you can stick to, i've not been hungry once since i started and i can feel adifferent already. Plus the doctors always say its a good one to choose!

Lost another pound since I last posted, slowly but surely and all that! As long as it comes off, I'm not bothered to be honest! I have set my self a target of two stone before Christmas, so I've got 27lb to go! Sounds so scary!

How is everyone getting on with their weight loss?

An update from me, I joined slimming world a month ago and lost 7lb in 3 weeks, then put on 1lb the last week and got really disheartened. I was away on a girls week to Ibiza last week and have struggled since then. I've been really panicking with only 7 weeks to go until I get married and being nowhere near what I imagined I would look like in my dress that currently doesn't fit! So this calls for extreme measures.......

I've started the Cambridge diet today, sole source, so 3 milshakes, porridge or soup per day and nothing else, totalling about 440 calories. I know its an unhealthy way to do it but its only temporary and only because I'm getting married and want to look and feel amazing on the day. I will look at the photos forever and at the moment, I hate the way I look. Hopefully I'll be able to mantain it a bit on honeymoon and when I get back I will be back on my normal healthy eating and exercise plan.

I lost 5st on Weight Watchers in 2011, bought my wedding dress when I was my lightest and piled on 2 stone since buying it. I've got 2 months to go (exactly) started on Atkins on June 9th and have lost 16lbs so far so only another 12lbs to go. Seems do-able. I'll be buying knickers in the days before I fly off for the wedding, bra-less thankfully. Might not even bother with knickers as plan to wear spanx for minimal belly button showing!!

I had a bad few weeks where I just couldn't find my motivation and regained a couple pounds. I've now lost them again but I'm basically back where I was a month ago, which is a bit frustrating. I intend to get my dress made to fit me now - I don't wanna create unneccessary pressure on myself! I can always get it taken in nearer the time if needs be.

I've lost 9.5lbs on slimming world in three weeks, had a wobble over the weekend for my birthday, but tried to make a few healthier decisions, and did a lot of dog walking to counteract!

Back on track today and only a stone to go now before my first target! I want to get there before the end of August, which is a friends wedding.

I'm really enjoying slimming world, once you get your head around it, i think its really easy to stick to and i haven't felt like i've been denied anything.

Yep Although I have been for 5 years on and off.... I had lost 5.5 stone ths time last year but have gained a stone since... I aim to be 9 1/2 stone by my wedding, currently 11stone. I dont want to change shape too much tho (I have no desire to be skinny, not look like me on my wedding day, etc PLUS my fiance fancied me when he met me and i was 14 1/2 stone then!) ....

I think I'll buy a dress that fits me perfect now, so size 14, SHOULD i find the ONE.... and have it taken in if needs be.

    Ah emabee,

just wanted to let you know that I feel your pain! My dress didn't fit properly until 3 weeks before the big day!! I've never felt so nervous! My bust was my problem area - where are you struggling?

I totally recommend the 30 day shred. Although I didn't have a lot of weight to lose (I'm a size 8), I lost plenty of inches and my dress zipped up perfectly around the bust when it mattered!!

Yep, though we have 2 years until the wedding so I'm starting early and doing it very gradually. I was 10.5st at Christmas and now 9st. Ideally I would like to lose a couple more but my aim between now and the wedding is just to keep it off, then tone up and lose those extra few pounds nearer the date. No crash diets or clubs for me and haven't spent a single penny. I've been doing the 5:2 diet since the beginning of 2014 and run more regularly. Seems to have done the trick, and I'd definitely recommend 5:2 as its sustainable and easy.

With less than 3 weeks til the wedding I decided to join the gym last night! I don't diet I just go between eating healthily and not eating healthily, so I'll try and stick on the healthy side for the next 17 days (apart from my hen night Saturday which will be very unhealthy)

my dress arrived 2 weeks ago and my measurement always mean they order me dresses that are way too big, I think it's due to the hips. Its had to be taken in. I'd just like a slightly flatter tummy as my dress is quite fitted to the hips, and to maybe lose the double chin.

I took a massive leap and joined a slimming world group last night, felt really motivated when i got home afterwards. Everyone was really friendly too.

Ive lost just over stone since May by going to the gym more and making small changes in what i eat, but i just wanted something extra to push me more towards my goals.

I want to get rid of 84lbs before our wedding next June, so fingers crossed!
