Anyone else regularly get an error screen

MrsSkinner2be, 7 March, 2013 at 17:08 Posted on Feedback to Hitched 0 30

Hitched often crashes on me and comes up saying error both when I'm on my work pc or my iphone - anyone else? Refreshing it doesn't do anything - you have to click back.

    Hi,

To help us work out whats going on is there a pattern to when it happens? Is it always the same page? Posts with unusual content? etc Anything you can tell us so that we can recreate the problem on our development site would help.

    Thanks

    Dean

Whenever it happens for me, it's when i'm trying to enter the wedding planning forum.

If I click the link for wedding planning, i'll get the error message- although if I click on a direct link to a thread within wedding planning, it's usually fine.

Hope that makes sense Dean, let me know if not and i'll upload a screen grab, which might show it better!

Yeah mine is normally if I'm in a thread in wedding planning and click on the "wedding planning forum" link at the bottom of the thread

Same here - if I click the link to get back to the wedding planning forum, rather than hit the back button.

Totally agree on the trying to get back to WP, as I just posted on the thread in OT if I click the link for WP more often than not I get this:

As Pavone said I have to use the Backup and try again, refresh doesn't seem to work.

Yes it happens a lot to me too when trying to get on to the wedding planning forum - but that's the only one I use. I have it saved in my windows favourites bar and use that, and that also has the same problem and I get the same error message.I just keep clicking it or the refresh page option and after a few goes it kind of gets through a gap and connects ---that's what it feels like.

I had a similar kind of an issue a while back (nothing to do with this site) and it turned out to be a bad "node " in one of the web servers pathways, sounds good but please do not make the mistake of thinking I know what I am talking about!!

Any hoo it turned out to be that everyone who had the issue were on talktalk or virgin for their isp

So those with the problem - who is your internet with

On iPhone today and really struggling with WP. Link at the bottom doesn't work, neither does the navigation link at the top. I have to come right out of WP and try to get back in that way.

    Hi Guys,

Just wanted to assure you that we are following this thread and appreciate the info to help try and find the root cause of this problem. It has helped us identify a new theory which we are currently investigating.

I am sorry, I know its a frustrating bug and we are focusing on this to try and find a fix.

    Hi,

Sorry that was one of the development team. We are adding extra data collection to the error page to try and help identify the cause. It should be back to the normal error page but in the background we get the extra information now.

    Thanks

    Hi,

The next time one of you gets this problem can you see if you can still get to the blogs home page ok (/wedding-planning/news/). We want to check if its just forum pages that are affected.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Just wanted to give you an update on this problem.

We are capturing extra information and this has helped us understand the frequency of the problem and narrow down the problem (mainly by ruling out pages that do not cause the problem)

We have found a problem with the way the old posts are indexed for search. We've fixed this but it will take up to 3 days to catch up and index all the documents from the the last couple of months. To be honest we are not sure this is the cause of the problem but we need to rule this out first.

If this does not fix it we have a number of planned steps/tests for early next week.

This is our priority bug and the development team are focused on solving this.

Having problems too, I'm on my laptop and on Sky, and it seems to be the wedding planning forum that's a problem, however I try and navigate to it.

Glad it's getting sorted Dean - fingers crossed one of the fixes will work. I get the error message most days, seems to be when trying to get onto the wedding planning board. I haven't had the message when trying to do anything else. Are you sure it isn't a web traffic issue? Just that often the error message will appear, and then a few seconds later you can access the forum page again no problem.

As we pay a fair bit to be on this forum it'll be good when it's sorted, must have been going on for months now!

    Hi,

I'm hoping we've finally made progress on this. We applied a patch to the forum code lunchtime yesterday and from our log reports it looks like we've fixed the major problem.

We are seeing a few different errors that were being hidden by the major issue but hopefully you are not getting the error page anywhere near as frequently as before.

Can you let me know if you agree ? - Fingers crossed

    Thanks

    Dean
