Anyone else still waiting to do their present shopping?

Gryfon, 25 November, 2008 at 18:15 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 28

I've bought a few bits but I'm waiting till pay day at the end of the week to shop. Fed up of waiting though especially as I don't think I'll be able to do as much as I wanted online.

So much for being organised this year!

Not as organised as i normally am but have been waiting for my mortgage to go down so il have some spare cash.

So far I've bought a stocking stuffer for my mum and sister and a calendar for my mate so it's fair to say I've not really started mine! Howver it is still November so I fail to see why this is a problem.

I've got quite a few already but Christmas has been seriously scaled down for us this year so I haven't got much left to buy, which makes a nice change as the past few years I've had to run around Manchester centre on Christmas Eve for the last few bits.

I've bought all H's presents and we've done and dusted his sister and her family. We just need to buy his parents, Woody's and mine - and he gets paid on Friday so we'll be hitting the shops on Saturday morning!

We're off to Switzerland for a long weekend next weekend so I guess we might be keeping some spendy buttons in case we spot any nice gifts out there.

I'm nearly done, but I have to get MrA, my mum, brother, 2 nieces and my granny. Have to get something for PILs too. Apart from my granny I know what I have to get, just have to get round to buying it.

Is Master A's birthday on 12th December, so will have to get something for that too I suppose.

House of Fraser are doing an "up to 40% off" sale on Thurs and Fri I think.

I just want to be mostly ready...and I want to shop! ? I love shopping for presents, especially as things are tight this year so I need to be more imaginative.

I'm just itching to start and annoyed I can't ? I have a voucher to spend though from a garden centre so I may just go and spend that tomorrow to tide me over!

I've got about half of the children's things. That's it. Have 20 people to buy for, and my H. Getting the rest of the children's things, 17 peoples presents and my H's on friday. Can't wait until it's all bought and wrapped.

I haven't even started mine yet. Safe to say we'll be broke for the whole of December as all our money will go on Christmas presents. ? Every year I tell myself I'm going to be organised and do it all early but I never ever do.

Ah just remembered I did do some shopping today! When I was waiting for my prescription from the chemist I was browsing and saw 100 pocket photo albums for 65p, so I bought 6 ? Thinking of doing hampers for some family and close family friends so I can print of some photos of the children to start off the albums.

I have been buying bits over the year, the task now is to find everything ?

Well, I have had to be more organised this year as my H now gets paid weekly and I'm not working, so we only have my husband's grandparents and a couple of friends left. I have done all my shopping online this year except for Wii Music which I got cheaper from ASDA.

So far I've got one pressie for my mum which is something I saw that i knew she'd like so bought it at the time. Also i've organised H's birthday pressie (18th Dec) so at least that's all sorted. The late night shopping evenings start this week (every thursday till Christmas) so i'll probably stay on in town after work and get cracking on it then....may even tempt H into town so he can buy me a pizza or something ?

Erm, yes - it's november, we haven't even started.

it's also looking likely that there will be massive reductions on the high street between now and christmas, so i reckon we could save a fair amount by waiting.

Well ours is all done and is wrapped.

I love the wrapping part more than the buying bit.

Thinking of sub contracting myself out as an elf.

I have only bought one so far

have a fair idea for most of the rest - but a few awkward rellies i have no plans for as yet

i dont really like having to do it too early - just seems wrong shopping for christmas in november - but sadly all the super organised people mean everything will probably be sold out by the time i get round to it

i used to love shopping for christmas but i find it ridiculously stressful now we have children as everyone wants to know what to get and more often than not just promise a cheque of indeterminate value that will arrive on the 23rd and we have to guess what they might send and buy it all ourselves

expectations have got higher as a whole in our family and i now live somewhere with really crap shopping so where i could go and find some pretty or quirky thing - i find it incredibly difficult to find things i can afford that will be appealing (my problem i know)

That's what I was worried about janeyh, all the big presents I want already sold. Thinking about it though Mr G has ordered his, I've got B's and ordered C's and I'm just trying to work out what I should get for A. She says she wants a guitar but I'm not convinced ?

I've (today) done my brother's family and my SIL's. I've also got something small each for the rest of my list, except J.

It feels wrong though, it's too early, I'm only doing it now because I'm due to have a baby in the next few weeks.

Ì've bought a few but i'm waiting until payday to buy some more but looking at the bills I have to settle when I get paid there isn't going to be the amount there to buy it all so it looks like it'll have to go on the plastic! Not what I wanted but hopefully I may get a bonus to cover some of it.

I generally do mine at the last minute-well within a few weeks/days of Christmas. I do it to bag the discounts on a particular item or get more for my money generally. Over the last couple of years consumers haven't been spending as much, so as the stores often have pre Christmas sales to lure us back in, I take advantage of that.

I've got most of mine. 22 people/pets to buy for, and whilst there's still 13 things to get, most of that is part-presents and I've already chosen them.

I seem to be rushing towards Christmas this year. Haven't had a proper holiday this year, so I'm really looking foward to 2 weeks off!

I'm another one waiting for pay day which is tomorrow too.

I've got quite a bit, need to get a couple more presents for H, something for my nana and something for my sister's BF but then that's my side of the family done. The things for H i can get online the rest i will have to go into town and get.

I hate having to wait for pay day, it seems to have taken ages to come around this month.

I've done a lot of it already this year, mostly because nipper is due to arrive any time in the next month. But we always do some early as bro and SIL and nephew are in Canada, and it's SIL's birthday on the 10th so we send theirs off in a oner. Have learned my lesson about the crapness of posting to Canada after several years of stuff being posted supposedly with plenty of time to get there, then sitting in depots at Heathrow for a week waiting to get on flights across ☹️

Main person that needs doing is of course H... he's got some quite specific requests which are going to be tricky for a housebound pregnant lady to meet but hey, he's going to get a baby for Christmas so that should jolly well do. Well, a half share in one anyway ?

I have a few bits to buy for MrKB, need to get my dads, BIL's which I bought part of taoday and then some stocking fillers for the girls. I managed to get most of it done when I went shopping with my sister a few weeks back. It was hardwork but I'm glad it's almost finished.
