Anyone else thinking of selling Wedding Dress after the Wedding??

kerryanneellis, 25 May, 2010 at 10:31 Posted on Planning 0 19

Hi All

Just wondered what everyones thoughts/what they are doing with their dress after the wedding?

I was dead set against selling mine however it was very expensive to buy and due to moving house etc i could do with the Cash to be honest, however just wondered whether anyone else was considering this or has done this and what there thoughts/ feeling were?

I don't think I could! I know I won't be doing much with it after the wedding, but it is MY dress dammit ?

I was going to sell mine but to be honest I just could not let it go. It is hanging up in my loft in the dress bag and I love having a little peek at it even after 8 years of marriage.

Thats how im feeling ladies but its a lot of money to just be sat there doing nothing my mum had hers made into mine and my brothers Christening gowns which i think is a lovely idea,

I suppose my heart says keep it but my sensible head says sell it let someone else have the use of it, it is a gorgeous dress that cost an arm and a leg for which i am gratefull to my dad for buying.

I'd love to say I will be selling mine, & making back some of the fortune spent on it, but I'm really sentimental. Going to have to wait & see. Maybe if I was offered enough ££ for it, I wouldn't find it so difficult?

I am so soppy with things like this - i just can't imagine selling it.

However, we do want to starting trying for a baby a year after the wedding and so i think i will keep it until then and see how we are financially. It'll be like a rainy day account i guess. It's a v expensive Ian Stuart so i should still get a fair bit for it on Bay of E even in a year or so.

I will be selling mine but only for the simple reason that i am terrible with tolerating clutter. If something isn't used or worn i just throw or send to oxfam. I jst know that is what my beautiful dress will become to me. Although saying that i stillhave my little ones christening outfits 3 years on and will probably keep their flower girl/page boy outfits.

I'm very sentimental when it comes to them, but not so much myself.

My friend sold hers on ebay and managed to recoup 80% of what she paid for it.

Im not sure i could either, which i know is silly because you never wear it again, but to be honest the second hand ones ive seen have been so cheap, if you are unsure about selling i wouldnt because it seems you really cant expect to get much money for them! women are very attatched to the idea of THEIR perfect dress, i think that applies before and after, people do not want to part with their dress, and often they do not want somebody elses either!

    Ill be selling mine.

What the hell are you all going to do with yours after the day?

I know what will happen if i keep mine - it will just get dumped in a black sack in the garage and rot!

Id rather get some money back on it and treat my good old mum as she is the one paying for it!

I don't think anyone will want to buy mine by the time I've finished with it, lol. I'm going for a full on trash the dress shoot after and my photographer has some really good venues in mind for it so I think it really will be trashed. If I'm spending hundreds of pounds on a dress I'm gonna bloomin well enjoy it!!
