Anyone else tried Jillian Michaels - 30 days shred

haylee81, 4 January, 2012 at 12:05 Posted on Planning 0 19

So I'm on my 2nd day and I'm gearing myself up, yesterday she totally wiped the floor with me to the point I could hardly get up the stairs with my jelly legs! Has anyone else tried this and had luck with weight loss??

I've tried it; but I did it for about a week, and only did the first one properly...then I just repeated exercises and skipped the cardio!

    Hi there!

I totally LOVE 30DS and all of JM's other DVDs.

I was really good in the summer and did it every day for a month before my holiday (10 days on each level). I really noticed a difference - it's great for toning up muscle and overall weightloss. Also if you stick at it, your stamina and strength improve dramatically.

I've just started again in the new year as my wedding is in August - eek! I am going to be doing a mix of all of her DVDs, depending on what I feel like and how much time I have, I've just bought the new UK releases too - Extreme Shed and Shred (or something like that) and one for Legs and Bums, but I've not tried them yet - I'm a bit scared!

Don't be afraid to skip a day if your muscles are feeling really sore - it's better to give them time to recover, especially whilst you're getting used to it at the beginning.

A word of warning - If you think Level 1 is a killer, wait until you get to Level 3. It has me screaming at the TV "You cannot be serious!".

    Yes me.

I completed it 30 days straight and had a 6 pack at the end of it, it was hard going but incredible!

Lost 7 lbs and 10 inches all over. Loved it!

God I hope so, my legs were like jelly this morning. I looked like a right twit coming down the stairs lol. Just did 30 mins on my cross trainer though and seems to have helped loosen them so I'll get back onto it tonight

How long does it take to do each day then, because it sounds horrific but promising? is it an hour a day, half an hour...?

The 30 shred is 20 mins a day (although to my maths it's actually 22mins but maybe she cheats somewhere along the line, haven't actually timed it). It's a 2min warm up, 3 x 6mins of strength, cardio and abs and then a 2 min warm down. I bought it for a fiver after reading another thread on OT and really like it so far. I did it every other day for about 2 and a half weeks before Christmas and got on to level 2 and it really does hurt to start with but it wasn't too bad after the 3rd or 4th go. Def noticed a difference - didn't lose any weight (perhaps more to do with all the pre-christmas meals out and drinks!) but def toned up especially my tummy and arms. Back on it now - though have gone back to level 1 - determined to get to level 3 this time!

Ive got this but so far have been unable to carry on with it or even get off level 1! ive tried doing it every other day and was hoping to get really good at level 1 before progressing to level 2/3 but never managed it so far.

When i first started it my legs were like jelly too and really sore, but it did go..however ive noticed that once ive had a good go on it and leave it for a couple of days i do start getting aches and pains everywhere for weeks afterwards - so its putting me off a little of trying it again.

I am aiming to do some other form of exercise for the rest of January try and get some stamina/strength then attempt it again, but maybe this time round just do 10 day straight of each level then after that go back to level 1 etc.

Let us know how you get on!

I did this workout before i got married...

It is a brilliant work out if you can stick to it, me & my partner did it together but eventually my knees gave up & I had to stop doing it! I have considered doing it again because of christmas but for the minute i'm enjoying eating! hehe

You must be getting married about the same time as me (I'm April 7th) and i've just ordered the DVD from Amazon now all you girls have inspired me. By the time it arrives I should have about 30 days before my dress fitting, so fingers crossed :-)

Getting married April 13th - no idea why our tickers put them one day apart - will have to look into that! You can do a lot in 30 days especially with trying on your dress as inspiration! My first fitting is Feb 17th so I am existing on mostly lettuce till then!!

I have had this DVD sitting on a shelf judging me since the start of Dec ready for the New Year. It's still glaring at me from across the room... good luck ladies! I plan to start next week cos am finding every excuse in the book to forget it for this week!
