Wowzers, that's some coffin. It still makes me sad to think about him being gone :--(

On Sky but will switch to BBC2 at 6.00, I think the coverage of the memorial will be better on the beeb.

I can't believe they're bringing the body in to the Staples Centre. I thought they were going to bury him before this service?

Blimey, that's going to make it super emotional isn't it? Fark.

Isn't it a little morbid having the coffin there??

It's giving me chills to know that he's 'there'...

I'm not surprised she's struggling to sing with the coffin right in front of her.

MC looks like she's going to loose it at any moment. Tough thing to do, going first. I think this is the first time I've ever liked her.

I really thought she wouldn't get through that, especially at the beginning.

Me too, I'm a goner already.

Poor old Jennifer Hudson has a tough task ahead of her too.

I'm actually quite glad not to be there. Can you imagine what it's lile in that hall? I know it's a celebration of his life but it's too emotional for me and it's only just started.

Even Lional Ritchie, true professional, chocked up upon looking at the coffin. Must be an awful thing to do as well as obviously a huge honour

God this is all rather moving. It's odd isn't it to feel so sad about the loss of someone you never met.

Damn I forgot it was on and have missed the first 1/2 hour, am taping the rest. Do you think it'll be repeated on telly or should I hedge my bets with iplayer tomorrow, although I'd rather watch it on my proper tv rather than pc monitor?

Is this being repeated? I only just got home from work and would like to see it all.

Don't mean to be controversial, but is there anyone else who thinks it's all a bit much?

Giving MJ credit for Obama being elected? ?

I think Al sharpton is known for being rather preachy so it was what I expected of him.

I sort of agree - that was a bit of a tenuous link wasn't it. His poor kids - I wonder if they know what's going on all around them.

No not a bit much really. It's so easy to forget how difficult things were for black artists/sportsmen/politicians etc. to break through. I think his point was that MJ brought a large number of people of varying ethnicities together (through his music) and gave them a voice around the world. I don't think he was saying MJ was souly responsible but certainly if it weren't for people like him from the time he was from, Obama would never have even made it into politics (alive) nevermind President.

I think he called him a trailblazer, which he certainly was. Can you imagine the millions of black children who saw Michael Jackson at such a young age and thought that there was a glimmer of hope?

I wonder if his children had any real idea just how massive he really was. It must be nice for them to hear stories of their father from people, but also very overwhelming.
