tinkerbelly1983, 6 October, 2011 at 08:03 Posted on Planning 0 12

....with their first dance? we have not practiced at all. we are dancing to the power of love by huey lewis & the news and we were never going to have a full on choreographed dance but trying to get my oh just to have a dance round the living room to it is like getting blood from a stone. im getting worried with a week to go that we're gonna look like fools. did anyone else just go out there & freestyle?!

Yep,we danced to Tijuana Lady by Gomez and although we knew the song really well we did not even practice a shuffle before the first dance. I had told the DJ that half way through i wanted the bridal party to join us on the dance floor which was really nice. It went well and was really romantic.

We had a 'routine' for our first dance, as it was a barn dance the caller suggested an Irish routine called the Coolagh and let us pick a tune to go with it (one with 32 bars apparently) and although we had the music and the moves, we didn't have them both together so we had absolutely no idea how it all fitted together.

We thought, on the night, the caller would tell us when to do the moves but no, she just sang along with the music (we picked "Daisy Daisy") so we were still as clueless as how it all went together - but we 'winged it' and achieved a passable result of sorts, and I don't think anyone really noticed that we were oblivious!

We are miles away from our day but I can pretty much guarantee that we will be " winging it"! My OH and I are not the type of people to do a choreographed dance, it just isn't us. We will probably be shuffling around for a couple of minutes enjoying our moment as much as we can before dragging other people up to join us!

We defo will be winging it. Neither of us are very dancy people, infact OH hates it. I try my upmost to get him to attempt dancing, but fail. He just stands on the spot and sways ?, which I guess on the day will be a tad embarrassing. I think we'll be having a quick shuffle around the dance floor before dragging everyone else up to join in!

The first dance was a HUGE worry for me. I REALLY can't dance. But it all worked out, I did attempt to practice in the living room but to be honest I couldn't stop mucking around. (I know i'm a child). On the day I did remember what we practiced but we winged it too, it all worked out fine.

We have been saying since day 1 that we would have lessons and now the big day is only 2 wks away we still haven't done a thing! I think we have both faced facts that we're going to "wing it"

I really wanted a little routine but when I thought about it we'd be concentrating so much on getting it right that we probably wouldn't enjoy it as much if we were just ourselves and had a laugh. He said he'll chuck in a few obligatory spins but I can see myself falling over (rather clumsy) so may be best to shuffle!

We are planning a fully un-rehearsed, non-choreographed shuffle around the dance floor to Savage Garden Truly, Madly Deeply!!

I know our wedding is ages away but i'll put money on us winging it. I did suggest lessons to my other half and he said 'only if that fit bird from strictly teaches us', he means Ola Jordan!

So at a hunch we won't be having lessons!

We kind of winged it. We danced to Hotel Yorba which lends itself to non-shuffly, slightly jumpy, dancing around. It's a song we've danced to before though, on nights out etc.

    Yeah we winged it too.

OH turned to me in the car on the way to the venue saying "F**K we never did practise our first dance..". ?.

We were then greeted at the venue before being ushered onto the dancefloor, so we kind of just went with it.

We'll definitely be winging it. We'll no doubt have an awkward shuffle before dragging everyone else up.

OH was worrying about this when we first starting planning and decided he would get lessons. But recently we said it just wasn't us, I will be happy just to have a few moments leaning against my new hubby without worrying about proper steps.
