Is anyone else unfortunate enough to be without power since yesterday lunchtime? According to the BBC website we may be without power until tomorrow morning! We've shipped the kids off to my dad's house as they were going stir crazy last night. I'll be heading over there tonight with the contents of our freezer so we can cook and some washing as we are going on holiday on Friday.

We've been keeping an eye on our elderly neighbour who is probably coping better than we are, she's more concerned for me than for herself. Bless her.

Generators are being dropped off at most main roads in Dartford to give us at least some power. MrKB has called and there are two massive ones in West Hill. EDF have said they are trying to hook us up by 9pm this evening but can't promise anything. Stone / The Brent have generators and have power at present according to a friend.

MrKB has spoken with a friend (You know how it is) and rumour has it 2 men were trying to steal copper cables from the Little Brook Sub Station. They dug the cables out, rested them on tyres and set light to the tyres in the hope they could melt the casing on the cables. This is after doing something to the power / sub box assuming the power was off. It wasn't and they both died. This is why it's taking so long to restore the power as the police are investigating the deaths.

He also mentioned something about an egineer needing to come over from France as the cables need 33k voltage and noone in the UK is certfied to work on anything over 9k voltage.

    Morning,

How is everyone doing? Have you got power KB? Are you ready for your hols, if there's anything I can do to help let me know. We had power last night but just around the corner on East Hill is still out as are the traffic lights etc.

Thanks Sez, I was coming on here to offer my power to anyone who needs it. We have a huge generator at the end of our street that we are plugged into so we should now be OK until that runs out of diesel. We saw someone topping them up last night so I reckon we will be fine until the power is back up permanently.

No rota system for those who have been without power since Monday which is good to know, I'm making full use of the washing machine and ironing and packing today.

BTW - we went to The Green Spice on Green St Green Road last night for dinner. My word it's the best curry we've had in a very long time. No wonder they win awards. I highly recommend trying it if you haven't been already!

I've been a couple of times to Green Spice for family birthdays and although everyone really enjoyed it I have to say I didn't really either time ☹️. Maybe it was what I ordered. Good news that you finally have power even if its from a generator. Did you see all the Red Cross at the station again last night? I'm not sure how many vulnerable customers they're going to find commuting from London.

In DA7 we got the power back on at 9pm last night (just as we were going to bed, having given up). It stayed on until midnight, turned off again, then turned back on again and stayed on until after we left the house at 7.30 this morning - I don't know if it's on permanently now or if it went off at 9am again..... Hopefully, today's the last day that we're all affected.....

Sez I get off at Crayford as it's the zone 6 boundary so haven't seen any red cross. Like you say though not sure how many vulnerable there are getting off of a commuter train!

Campergirl, this is the latest update from EDF. According to a colleague at work it may not be fixed permanently until Sunday let's hope he's wrong though.

Update 17.30 - Power interruptions affecting Dartford area

    Print page

This is the latest update at 17.30 hours on 22 July 2009 for our customers in the Dartford, Bexleyheath, Crayford and Erith areas,

We are continuing to restore supply in the locality and in particular to our customers in the Dartford area via generator.

We will be connecting generators throughout the day until final repairs have been made to the main cable badly damaged by fire on Monday.

We are of course working around the clock and continue to make good progress with the permanent repair.
As always though the safety of our staff and customers is our main priority.

There have been some changes to the rota connections for customers in the Crayford, Bexleyheath, Crayford and Erith areas. These rotas will continue until repairs are complete as follows.

    Broadway DA16 DA16 3 DA6 8 Broadway DA5 3 DA5 1 DA7 6 Broadway DA7 4 DA16 1 Broadway DA7 5 DA7 4 Broadway DA17 6 DA8 1 Broadway DA16 2 DA17 5

    03.00 – 06.00 23/07/2009

These times will be staggered slightly as not everybody can come on at once and we realise some postcodes overlap.

The British Red Cross (BRC) are on site again today to help our vulnerable customers.

Although it is hard to be completely accurate due to the complexity of the repairs we estimated permanent power will be restored to everyone during the course of tonight or early tomorrow. This time may be updated later dependant on progress from site.

We are still talking to our regulator Ofgem about our guaranteed standards for this exceptional event and more information will be available soon. As always any losses have to go through your own insurance.

Thank you for your patience we do realise how difficult it is to be without power for such a long time.

    Please note:
Customers on via generators will stay on until the repair is complete and they will then have a short interruption when they are connected back to the normal network (about 30 mins).
