Anyone ever worn or wearing a shrug AND a veil?

mummymrs2b, 15 April, 2012 at 21:48 Posted on Planning 0 4

I know it's been said that you should wear one or the other, but just wondered if anyone had wore both or if it really isn't done? I went to try my dress in again yesterday and it gave me the kick up the bum to get back to slimming world on tues but I still don't think even if I lose weight I'm gonna feel comfy with the top of my arms out. I did mention about getting a shrug to wear but did really want to wear a veil and think both may be too much. The lady in the dress shop said you could wear both but due to the material of my dress (taffeta) she thinks a shrug if this material would be too much, but said maybe a chiffon shrug. What do you think ladies? Can you do both or am I best choosing one or the other? Xx

Hiya, I wore both a veil and a shrug and it looked wonderful on the day! In fact I was sooo glad I had the shrug as we got married on a colder summer day. My shrug was a short capped sleve type, made out of soft tulle and I wore a silk veil with it. It looked just gorgeous. I think that a bolero from the same material as the dress would also look good but it wasnt my style and I thougth it wouldnt suit me as much. I found a picture online of another bride wearing it with the same dress, so I knew it would go. My advice is to go with what you feel is best plus it has to look good too. Take a fashionista friend with you to the bridal shop (one you know will give you an impartial and honest advice) Good luck making the right decision for you! xx?

Its a very good question. The lady from the shop where I am getting my dress said she would strongly recommend I don't wear them both together as it can sometimes add more "bulk" and actually end up drawing attention to the area you want to disguise (the arms). My dress is having detachable fitted tulle sleeves added to it so during the day the plan is I will just wear my veil, which is a floor length 2 tier veil and then when I take the veil out after the photo's I will put the sleeves on. Not 100% sure yet, I'll wait and see how I feel at my fittings I think.

Glad to see others have or are doing it. Think I need to look into it and see what works, until then back on the diet and try and tone them arms! X
