Anyone flown First Choice Star Class Premier?

Emma217, 2 May, 2008 at 16:31 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

Off to Mexico later this year and have booked with First Choice. We are off to pay for it tomorrow and are considering upgrading the flights to Star Class Premier. Is it worth the money? We already have extra legroom seats but now I have visions of being in the extra legroom seats near to the loos!

I'd stick with the seats you have picked.

Charter upgrades are not great, so the £700 extra it may cost - spend on yourself.

IMO yes. We boooked them for our honeymoon. My H is almost 6'4" and was comfortable the whole way. Seats are wide, air filled leather seats with singed headrests so very comfy for sleeping in!

Seat back TV with personal remote control and greater choice of films and tv programs (12 films I think it was). You can also pause and rewind the films.

Champagne cocktail before take off, unlimited drinks and snacks and choice of menu.

A very pleasant and comfortable way to fly. Oh yes, and a pampering pack and free cushion and blanket.

You turn left in to separate cabin when you board the plane.

I've flown Star Class and had a quick nosey at Star Class Premier ?

My flight was 10 hours and although by the time we landed I was feeling cramped I think I would have no matter where I had been sitting for that amount of time. As far as I can remember the extra leg room was by the emergency exits so no where near the toilets.

Premier offers free drinks throughout the flight which in Star Class you have to pay for, and I think you get real cutlery rather than plastic, but I can't remember too many other differences. Even the priority checking in wasn't working when we flew out.

I think it would be nice to do for a special occasion or if you have spare cash, but I wouldn't save up for it.

Sorry but i dont think it was worth it

it was £250 each way (i think)

you are supposed to have priority when it comes to luggage collection, ours were very near last despite the premier tags on them. you apparently have access to games and tv that economy class dont have , but they can buy the earphones and set for £5.99.

its unlimited drinks, but when i asked for a diet coke i was told that it wasnt time for the drinks trolley and id have to wait, i offered to pay and they said that id still have to wait for the drinks trolley

Thanks everyone. On balance, it's probably not worth it (£170 each return) then, H can spend the money on a fab anniversary present for me instead ?

If I fly with First Choice or Thomson I always opt to upgrade. Last year we went to Costa Rica with FC, our friends opted not to upgrade but wished they had after a 12 hour flight. In additon I find the extra baggage allowance handy, a different choice of menu, priority boarding and check in. I personally think it is worth the extra money, especially the extra legroom, footrest, headrest for the journey home, which is usually an overnight flight.

You can book through their website. On the flights section there is the flying schedule so you know if they fly from your local airport.

Yes they do allow children, however I think you have to pay full price for the child upgrade.

After an appalling Thomson flight back from the Maldives in March, I've now vowed to try and not fly charter if at all possible whilst still flying direct.
The plane wasn't the right one so we had the right legroom but no seatback TVs. Those in Premier class were given handheld DVD players.
On the way out, my H upgraded his entertainment for £5 and got Sky+ pause etc and 12 extra films - basically the same entertainment package as Premier who'd paid £100 - that's a lot more for free drinks, a small amount of extra leg room, wider seat IMO.
