Steffib87, 8 January, 2009 at 12:29 Posted on Planning 0 12

Or know of shrewsbury/telford area? I am feeling a bit lonely on the wedding front here and just wondered if anyone can shed some light on how they've done things?

Plus I just want to talk weddingy but don't have anyone who understands and don't want to bore them!!! I'm far too excited for my own good as I've only been engaged since november!!

?

Got married in Feb last year. It was lovely. The only thing i would change is that i didn't worry so much. I just couldn't relax for some reason. It all comes together in the end.

Hiya - i'm getting married in telford in june. Only got engaged at xmas so didnt think we'd find anywhere free for a sat in june but got lucky and had a couple of places to choose from. (actually confirmed our venue booking yesterday!!!)So although i not been engaged long, i've spent most of that time looking into telford venues! I'm definitely no expert but maybe i can help - anything in particular you wanted to know?

MrsC2b...we're looking at the buckatree hall hotel, I've been a couple of times, all nice, h2b thinks the grounds are lovely and what not so I just wanted to know other people's opinions (if they've been) as I have scared myself looking at reviews!! Which venue have you booked? I really like the wroxeter, but the lack of air con in the conservatory puts me off!

The Buckatree was one of the places on my list but unfortunately it was booked for the date we want. I've never been to a wedding there but the setting is gorgeous - i had a look at some reviews and they didnt seem too great for "normal" guests but dont think i read any that said anything bad about weddings there.

We have booked the Park House hotel in Shifnal (prob the wrong side of telford for you if you want somewhere on the shrewsbury side) For something really unusual look at the ironbridge gorge museums website - you can have your wedding in one of the museums, eg blist hill victorian town - complete with old fashioned fair ground which i think would be lovely esp if you're having lots of children at the wedding!

Nearer to Shrewsbury you've got Hakewstone park and Rowton Castle (my friend got married there - gorgeous place) but i imagine both would be pretty expensive!

When are you getting married? :-)

18th Aug 2011...ages away! I looked at the Park House on the internet, its lovely, dont know if its still the same owers but if it is they really look after you. I like the idea of the museums might suggest that to h2b. Used to work at Rowton Castle and its way over our budget (not pulling a sad face at all)

Anyway, must dash, meeting the parents!
