Anyone got/had the contraceptive implant?

Leanne (MsA), 24 October, 2008 at 11:55 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

I'm currently on the pill but would like something long term as i'm not planning on having anymore babies and I keep forgetting to take it which isn't good! I have had the coil in the past but didn't get on with it.

Anyone that has it have you had any side effects?

TIA

It obviously varies from person to person but I have one and it's great. Once it's fitted you can forget all about it. I've had mine for two years and had one period. No other side effects for me.

    Hi Leanne

I had it after having my daughter and it was fine had it removed so that I could have my son and had another put in.

With the first one had no probs at all af very light most of the time but once a year would get a heavy one. Ihad no Af pains and no mood swings the only thing I found hard was not knowing when AF would arrive(have always been regular) the second one was fine for a year and half then it went mad I had a continual Af for about 3 months possibly longer with only a day or 2's break. It was not fun. I eventually had it removed and my family planning clinic had never had a case like it before and had no idea why it happened.

I would recommend it though. My friend also has it and she has not had any probs at all like id hadn't with my first.

    TP x

My doctor told me it is the same hormones that are in Cerezette which is why I'm not allowed on it, I bleed for 8 months on cerezette so would be more than likely to happen on the implant with me too.
