Anyone guilty of this?.....

We don't allow our dog to sleep in our bed, or even go upstairs, but the cat quite likes to settle at the end of our bed at night sometimes.

This article is making me think that this is not a good idea, and is literally making my skin crawl thinking about it!! ?

No pets at the moment but the pets we were brought up with weren't allowed on the furniture unless sat on someone's lap (cats only, dog was too big!).

This isn't a new discovery though, surely?

Erm....yes. My dog sleeps at bottom of bed & is always on the sofa etc. We only have her a wkends & odd night through the wk, her base has remained at my parents.

I know dogs are dogs but she is groomed & cleaned regularly. She is small & fluffy & we really dont even notice her on the bed with us. She is a pampered pooch!

ETA she doesnt cast hence regulary brushing, bathing & grooming!

The cats are allowed up for cuddles but not sleeping.

As we leave them alone for a good 11 hours a day, I couldn't tell what furniture they go on in the day

If my dog chooses to sleep on the end of my bed then he can, as it stands he prefers his own bed but the odd time I'll wake up and he's at the bottom of my bed. He also sits on the sofa. He doesn't shed, he's very small, very clean I don't see the big deal and as Cricks pointed out this isn't exactly breaking news. Each to their own.

I think a lot of this is scaremongering. Of course you open your house up to fleas and other parasites if you dont keep your cat / dog dewormed and deflea-ed. Its common sense.

Maggie kips on our bed when we're not in it, she's shut in the living room overnight and I dont know where she sleeps, sometimes the sofa, othertimes her bed, I even found her asleep on the table once.

I make sure we keep her de-minged and I clean our house.

I'm sure we will all be fine!

Our giant rabbit used to stay indoors when we were kids, particularly in the winter.....I was always scared the fox's would get him!

Uhhh, any dog owner worth his or her salt de-worms their dogs regularly and uses flea and tick treatments, as well as checking for ticks regularly!! The second half of this article suggests that with these common treatments the usual culprits are taken take of.

As I type this, Wispa is curled up next to me. I grew up with a dog who slept on couches, beds, anywhere to be close to people. I have never known anyone to go blind from this. What a load of crap, it happens once and an article is written to scare people from being cuddly with their pets?! If Wispa wants to sleep on the foot of our bed, she can. I wash our sheets often, and she usually sleep on her bed, anyways.

What a crock of shite, scare-mongering. Maybe if you picked up some grotty old stray off the streets, you may end up with little visitors, but pets? Nah.

One of my cat's sleeps either on his cushion on top of the fridge freezer, his bed or my pillow/head. The other sleeps either in his bed or under the duvet with me curled up in my arms.

My cat (and her minge) opens the doors, goes into our room and makes herself snug at the end of the bed. Then her bro follows her and sleeps on the spare bed!

I actually had to google 'minge' to figure out why you're all laughing.

    Urban Dictionary to the rescue!

? Noooo! Really? I thought it was really common.

On a work night out once we tried to list all the slang terms for the lady parts and I think we hit somewhere between 70-80, though since then new nicknames mean the list may well have reached 100 if we did it again.

I saw this article yesterday and agree with everyone else, its scaremongering everyone is different and each to their own. We have two cats and the youngest isnt even a year old so is a baby, he doesn't sleep with us all night but will often wake up in the morning and he is lying next to my head - I don't mind it and I have always had animals in bed with me, as a child our dog slept on my bed every night and it never did me any harm!!

This, totally. Poppy is constantly in my bed with me, especially when I'm poorly she is my little nurse and doesn't leave my side! (as any of you who are FB friends with me will have seen!)

All tucked in right next to me.

He sleeps under the duvet at our feet.

I make no apologies for this.

Aww he looks like a mix of my two. Got the same markings as Jessie, even down to the white toes! But has the same skeletor ribs as Woody. Mine both sleep in the bed. Woody always curls up behind my legs under the quilt and Jessie is by my side for cuddles, but when she gets hit she does go on her bed. I hate sleeping without them. OH and I get too hot for cuddles with each other, so it'd be really lonely without the pups. Ha ha.
