Anyone had a child do a reading at a civil ceremony?

popski29, 25 September, 2012 at 10:59 Posted on Planning 0 2

Just going over the forms we have been sent by the registrar - wanting details of bits and bobs for the ceremony. We can have up to three readings. I had already asked my sister, and would really like my nephew/godson to read something.

I know he would love to do it, and would practice and take it very seriously bless him - I was thinking more of a poem or less formal reading that he would actually understand!

Has anyone done this or is it even allowed?! There seem to be so many rules with civil ceremonies - certainly in our area anyway!

Hi, I am having my 11 year old nephew do a reading at our wedding in December and although I havent seen it yet, I believe my brother has picked a light hearted reading in which my nephew inserts certain peoples names in certain places. I believe this fitted our family quite well as it talks about *brides mother* having a cry, *certain uncle* getting too drunk etc and so I think will raise a few laughs which will help keep my nephew at ease I think. My brother said he just googled wedding readings for children.

Also, I have been to a wedding where 2 smalls girls (I think they were the brides nieces) read The Owl and the Pussycat between them which was lovely.

Also if you google winnie the pooh wedding readings there are some very sweet readings taken from the original Pooh books x
