Anyone had/having a harpist?

Wherts2b, 23 February, 2012 at 14:49 Posted on Planning 0 8

We're going to an open evening in a few weeks with ours and she's asked us to let her know next week if there's any particular songs we would like that is not on her extensive list and she can prepare and play it to see if we would like it included.

Any ideas of something a bit different? I thought Phil Collins - Groovy kind of love might sound nice - hopefully in a non Gary Lineker way! xx

I've got a violinist, but he's got an extensive list of musical ideas on his site so have a look there if it helps:

Thanks for this suggestion. I had a look on utube for videos and it sounds amazing on the harp. I must admit I do really love this song and wanted it played during our civil ceremony to sign the register (as harpist is going to be in blessing not in civil) but OH thought it was too slow but this will be perfect for one of the intro songs in blessing! We've got a "mini concert" next week with harpist and she will play for us then ? xx

I think it's a difficult song to fade out if you're walking down the aisle to it, and I think it would make me a bit tearful! I'm gutted really because i've got all my favourite songs planned for before I walk down the aisle and the guests are seated but I will miss them all. Will have to make sure she plays them again during drinks reception

I had a harpist who played whilst I walked down the aisle and while people were eating. Everyone commented on how lovely it was and they really noticed when she'd stopped playing. It was lovely ?

What about Elvis Cant Help Falling in Love? Just been listening to some harp versions on you tube and it sounds beautiful, definitely on my shortlist

That's on my harpists play list actually and it is a beautiful song but I'm not a fan of Elvis. I woudl like her to play it during drinks reception but not in ceremony
