Anyone have a pump on their shower?

allymc, 25 July, 2009 at 16:40 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

We've recently moved in to a house where the en-suite shower has a pump fitted. Whilst the shower is lovely and powerful the pump itself is incredibly noisy! The house is approx 15 years old and I'm not sure if the pump is original or not. Do they tend to be noisy? Or is ours just getting old?

TIA ?

We've one in our bathroom and it is super noisy. When we first used it I thought it was going to explode!

Looking forward to a new bathroom and less noisy shower.

ETA we've been in our house since Nov 08 but no idea how old the shower is.

Thanks for the replies. It sounds like they could just be noisy then. I did have a quick look online at how much a new one costs, they're rather pricey though so we may just have to stick with it for the time being!

Yup mine is super noisey, it drives me crazy when OH gets up at ridiculous hours to go to work!!

Think you can get specific 'super quiet' ones, but they are big bucks!!

I have one for our main bathroom as we have a flat roof. Mr R has bulit a foam box to slot over the top of it for early morning showers. Its also standing on something (prev owners did it) Plus side my 2.5yr was a screamer as a baby and he loved the sounds and vibrations from the pump lol I used to sit him in his bouncy chair outside the airing cupboard.

They are noisy but they will be noisier if there is air in the system or if they aren't fitted on top of a noise absorbing pad which i think you can buy separately.

Mine's noisy too, but it's worth it to have a decent shower.
