Anyone having a break between wedding and reception?

FutureMrsWilson, 22 April, 2011 at 20:12 Posted on Planning 0 6

I've been told a 2pm slot is probably the nicest slot for the ceremony, but our reception venue is from about 6pm onwards which means a gap in the day. Is this OK to do?

TBH I'm looking forward to checking into the hotel, spending a little bit of time with hubby and relaxing before leaving for the reception. I'm also changing into a different dress for the evening, and hubby doesn't want to spend the entire day in his rental (kilt) either.
Want to be at the reception venue before the guests too, to make sure that the decorations/table names are OK and make any last minute checks with the venue manager, DJ etc.

Anyone else having a break in the day?

We are getting married at 12, photos until about 2/3, then we are off to our venue, as we are catering ourselves, then the evening reception will start at 7pm. The guests all know this well in advance.

Definitely will do! We're getting married on Blackpool seafront, and most of them will be staying in nearby hotels. There's no end of stuff for them to do or places to have dinner. Besides the actual ceremony we're having a really informal day.

Yep! Wedding is @ 1230pm, ceremony will last approx 1hr & then line up for meal is at 415 / 430pm. Most of our guests will nip home for (99% of guests are local) or some will head onto hotel where there will be tea, shortbread etc.

Hi we get married at 12pm then after photo's etc it will be near enough to 2pm so were having dinner for 3ish then the evening reception bit doesn't start until 7pm but the guests can go home (most have booked rooms at the hotel) or they can sit in the hotels lounge area or theres other rooms they can chill out in.

The dinner is bound to last approx 2 hours so that will be 5pm then theres only a couple of hours to go,most will be dropping kids back to the baby sitters :-) so they can get sloshed! lol! x

Our evening reception is starting at 7.30pm but the wedding breakfast will finnish at around 6pm so the guests will have an hour and a half to go and freshen up before the night time do, its also in an other venue but its only a 5 min walk away!
