anyone having chicken?

CSayer, 4 November, 2010 at 12:21 Posted on Planning 0 16

We're thinking of having chicken for the main course but I'm a bit worried that it may come out dry.

There's 70 people for our sit down three course dinner. It comes in a tiny bit of sauce I think but I'm worried it might be dry by the time some people get theirs.

Anyone else having chicken and has anyone else thought about this or am I over reacting?!

I'm having chicken too, also for 70 guests.

Were going to for a taster session before though so I will be insisting on a decent amount of sauce! We haven't yet decided on what sauce to have. The one they normally do is with mushrooms, but I know a lot of people don't like them and I can't be bothered organising so many portions without mushroom so she said for me to think about an alternative sauce.

I hope mines not dry too!

Melissa I would have David from masterchef cooking my wedding breakfast all day long!

Its a good point about chicken its really difficult to get the meat succulent but Im sure the chef will do a great job,

We're going for our taster meal today and one of our choices for the main dish is chicken. It's stuffed with haggis and comes with a mustard sauce so I really hope it won't be dry. I think it's a good option though because most people like it

Awww, I loved David from masterchef too!

But back to the point - yes we are having a Roast dinner, yummy chicken. I figured it is quie a safe bet, some people don't like fish, some find beef too touch or like it really rare... chicken is simples!

Sure it will be fine, we have roughly 80guests. I'm having faith in our caterers!

I'd go for lamb myself but people are fussy about that so we'll stick to something safe!

I think ours comes in some sort of sauce or jus or foam stuff?! It should be fine! Yours sounds lovely kirstycat.

I'll be honest that is exactly the reason why we are not having chicken.

I've attended two weddings that had a roast chicken dinner, and quite frankly they were awful, really dry and not very tasty. I've also been to a few balls, that have also served a roast chicken dinner and again it really has been bad.

I'm not sure why these large venues cannot seem to cook roast chicken in quantity, because if I ordered it in a pub, it would be great.

and its just so expensive at these venues!

Its largely because of these disappointments that we are now having an extensive, multi-coursed meze type meal.

We had our taster meal today and the chicken was delicious. There was just enough sauce and it wasn't dry at all. It comes stuffed with haggis but they said they can do it without for anyone who wants as it's all done to order on the day. The whole meal was delicious - can't wait to eat it again for real!

We're having chicken and yes I have the same concern as you! I'm just trusting the fantastic reviews I've heard and going with it as none of the other menu options were viable for us. If the worst comes to it, I know our dessert and the cake are cracking ?

I think we are going for the predictable chicken, we decide next month. Personally i would rather have fish and OH would rather have red meat, so no idea how we got to chicken!

No we're not having chicken but thats because I think its too 'safe'. I wanted to chose something we wouldnt normally eat as a wedding is supposed to be special after all and I dont consider chicken to be special. We always have chicken at home as we cant really afford to eat any other meat at the moment.

So we're going with Lamb! Most people like lamb and its a bit different/special. Cant wait for our tasting session!
