Anyone having fresh flowers in their hair?

SoontobeMrsSSmith, 9 November, 2010 at 11:17 Posted on Planning 0 12

I really like the idea of having fresh flowers in my hair.

But whenever I mention it to people their reaction is either that its a bit Hawaii, a bit 70s or a bit of a ditzy thing.

What do others feel?

What I really want, which I remember seeing a bride in a film I once watched wear, is to have three small rose heads in a tight bunch in my hair. I might add a touch of diamonte by it just for a bit of sparkle too.

Roses and orchids are the best flowers to choose for the hair as they are fairly hardy. A lot of the other flowers won't stand the heat both from the head and/or the weather if it's warm and tend to wilt.

My self and my bridesmaids all had fresh flowers in our hair. I just asked my florist to wire up a selection of the roses we were having then the hairdresser chose which to use. We had different sizes and colours to choose from to match my mixed up flowers. There are a couple of pics in my report I think.

I think fresh flowers are nice and remember it is your wedding so you decide what you want not what other people want or expect.

    Thanks all,

My main worry is that some people seem to find them passe.

But I think they will look lovely, and to the lady with orchids, that sounds like a really nice choice.

I had natural flowers and was really pleased with them - they also lasted the whole day without any issues, and did not require anyt special treatment.(it was a heatwave at 30 degrees on that day too!!!) I was lucky... my lovely neighbour, who is a florest, made them for me with a matching bouquet.

See picture below. (This is my first flash and recognisable picture of myself on hitched... so now you have a face to the name!!!)

Ahhh - thank you! They are orchids (cream with a pink hint), and the florest boud them in a crescent / arch to fit against the shape of my head perfectly. I know that she would be happy to talk to you if you would like me to put you in touch. (I am Croydon based).

    All the best!

Yes, my hairdresser recommeded I use roses. So am having 2 white and 1 deep red rose from my florist. Think she is going to bring them fresh in the morning and speak with the haridresser to make sure they are going to look great.
