Anyone having or thinking of having canapes - Advice please

niche79, 31 May, 2010 at 20:59 Posted on Planning 0 6

H2B has decided he wants us to have canapes between the ceremony and wedding breakfast, which is fine, but our venue is completely bespoke, they have no set menus or packages at all so we will have to tell them what we want and then they will price it up for us.

So, for those of you having or thinking of having them, please can you let me know what you are having, and if possible how much they are ?

Thanks

We're having a spanish style menu with tapas and paella for main. So the tapas dishes are being served as canopies. i.e. tostadas, stuffed peppers with rice, tortilla etc and then the sit down bit will be the paella. My favourite x

Price wise I think in total it is 18.50 a head. I know that's alot cheaper than some places

Hello, we are going to have them. Our hotel charges £5.95 per guest (but we will probably only cater for 75% of the guests) for 5 items per guest. The hotels brochure says you can have things like griddled aubergine and asparagus wrap, parma ham and onion tartlet, smoked salmon brioche and a vegetable money bag (!?!).

We havent been for our tasting session yet though, so no idea if these are nice!!! ?

    Our venue, a stately home, has 3 different prices: 3 bites £5.95 / person, 4 bites £7.50 / person and 5 bites £9.95 / person.

We are having the 4 bites and the following:

    • Buckwheat Blinis with smoked salmon, sour cream and caviar;
    • Mini Caesar Salad Croustades
    • Mini hamburgers with pickles and ketchup
    • Tartlet with bubble and squeak, quails egg, pancetta and fruity sauce

If you are looking for some inspiration get looking in cook books. On eo f mine by Good Housekeeping is a canape only reciepe book. Think of anything adn make it miniature and you have your canape. Can be as simple as tiny squarea of candwiches or be mini versions of meals such as mini burgers or cocktail sausages in mini jacket potatoes. Our canapes will match our theme which is kind of shaby chic tea party esque so mini cheese scones, tiny smoked salmon sandwiches etc etc

    http://www.macdonaldhotels.co.uk/elmerscourt/pdf/wedding-brochure.pdf

Page 5 of the wedding brochure shows the canapes we are having. Would copy and paste but it wont let me!!

They are £1.50 a person per canape and we are having three per person so £4.50 a person and a mix of all those listed.

Ours were £22 per person, wedding was nearly 5 years ago and i can't remember what we opted for. I think there was a selection of 5 or 6 different ones.

Unfortunately i don't think canapes are something you can skimp on and only cater for a % of the guests.
