Anyone here who can only wear silver/gold?

teeheeyoucrazyguys!, 1 January, 2009 at 13:31 Posted on Planning 0 6

My CBM can only wear real silver earrings. I suddenly thought that maybe she wont be able to wear the necklace I've bought her as its not real silver.

Do you think she could have a reaction to it? She doesnt wear jewellery, not even a watch, and I didnt want to tell her i've bought her a necklace (they will all have the same one) as it is a gift and I wont be able to take em back to the shop as I got them in Nov.

any advice/ideas?

    Hello!

Yeah she will probly break out in a rash, not what you want!

My Gran has this problem, she has a special cream that she puts on her jewellery that stops her having a reaction. Not sure what its called, but if you go to a pharmacy I'm sure they could help. Your CBM could then use it and be able to wear the necklace.

    Hth!!

When i first had my ears pierced (age 10) they gave me silver studs to wear for the first 3 months! After 3 months i wanted a more trendier pair so i bought some that were made of nickel (i didn't know this at the time) Anyway to cut a long story short, these nickel earings made my ears sore and i couldn't sleep on them or touch them! I went to the doctor's and he explained that some people have a reaction to unpure metals or something like that and told me only to wear pure metals like gold and silver earrings, and have had to check all my earrings ever since, however i can wear necklaces, bracelers etc that are not gold or silver which i strange! I understand that people can have varying reactions and that my reaction to the earrings was quite serious! You should ask your bridesmaid how allergic she is, if she's like me, she'll be fine but it's worth checking since some people's reaction to metals on their skin can be very severe!

Cheers girls... i might get her flatmate to play detective...

I suppose it wouldnt matter if she had a diffy necklace to the other two - hell shes got a different dress! Maybe I'll opt for a pearl drop if she cant wear what ive bought her. They are from past times and are lovely too...

At least she's your CBM so it doesn't really matter if she looks different. I'm sure you'll be able to work something out with her.

    Good Luck!

As laura said, if she's your chief bridesmaid, maybe it would be nice to differentiate her from the rest anyway! ?
