anyone hired an ice cream trike??

amythest76, 31 August, 2010 at 09:30 Posted on Planning 0 14

this is what we are wanting for our 'dessert' option, they offer 4 hours of unlimited ice cream and you choose 8 flavours...sounds perfect but obviuoskly we wont know how good an idea it is until the day!

anyone have any good or bad reviews on this???

I've hired one for my wedding in three weeks time - will report back!

They've been fantastic to deal with in the lead up so I can recommend them from that point of view.

Can I hijack this thread and ask about alternatives to ice cream? I love the idea but I'm lactose intolerant and so are a handful of our guests, so it would be good to have something along those lines but that isn't going to make us all ill! I was thinking a donut bar but I haven't found anything under google. Don't really fancy a chocolate fountain, really love the idea of something a bit out-there!

Amethyst, I'm getting married in Ascot so very near you!!

We were given the option of sorbets too - we've picked one of these actually as we have family that like it - so I can't see why you can't have a "sorbet" truck!

The company we've gone for is based in Devon but we paid an extra £50 in travel for them to come to Berkshire. This still seemed to work out comparably to other companies and they seemed to do more of a choice of cone/sauces/toppings. I'll root out their details and report back after the wedding!

we were quoted about £300 for unlimited ice cream for 120 people for 4 hours!!

which compared with a 'dessert' with a meal is pretty good value, plus the kids will love it!!

I also looked at an ice cream van, they were charging £85 for hire, then each ice cream was between 1.00 and 1.50 each-so there was no control over how many everyone had, it would just be a case of fingers crossed and pay at the end!!

Has anyone thought of getting an ice cream van? my dad had his 60th birthday party recently - he just approached one guy that stopped nearby and asked him if he wanted to turn up to our house on a certain date for a couple of hours - went down an absolute storm!

Can anyone recommend an ice cream trike near henley. We're having our venue at Arden cote manor in claverdon, Warwick. I'm a bit gutted as I found a really nice ice cream van but they won't allow it only a trike.

If anyone's interested in ice cream vans Annie's antics is amazing!

    Thanks

    X x
